Was unaware the site was called funkywhateversniperwants.com

If arcade types are in the overall ranking, which I believe they are, then they should have ranked tournaments. If you are having a 5 second tournament for one type, you should have it for them all.

Arcade is different. It's still a game type on here that many people like playing, so it should have tournaments as well.

But it doesn't really matter which tournaments are played, as long as there are fewer of them! I think that's what the main point of the thread was, or at least the part about tournaments.

How about the idea of having guests able to join micros, or micro arcade tournys. Gives them an insight on how its all done. Sorry i meant friendly tournys! So friendly arcade tournys?

For what my input is worth, here would be my 48 hour schedule...

Day 1
01:00 8 Arcade
02:00 8 Ball
03:00 UK8 Speed
04:00 9 Arcade
05:00 9 Ball
06:00 8 Arcade
07:00 8 Ball
08:00 Straight
09:00 9 Arcade
10:00 UK8 Marathon
11:00 9 Ball
12:00 8 Arcade
13:00 8 Ball Speed
14:00 9 Arcade Marathon
15:00 UK8
16:00 Random Speed
17:00 8 Ball
18:00 9 Ball Speed
19:00 8 Arcade Marathon
20:00 UK8
21:00 9 Arcade
22:00 8 Ball Marathon
23:00 9 Ball
24:00 Straight

Day 2
01:00 8 Arcade
02:00 UK8
03:00 9 Arcade
04:00 8 Ball
05:00 9 Ball
06:00 8 Arcade
07:00 UK8
08:00 Random Speed
09:00 9 Arcade
10:00 8 Ball
11:00 8 Arcade Speed
12:00 9 Ball Marathon
13:00 UK8 Speed
14:00 9 Arcade
15:00 Random
16:00 Straight Speed
17:00 UK8
18:00 9 Ball
19:00 8 Arcade
20:00 8 Ball
21:00 9 Arcade
22:00 UK8 Marathon
23:00 9 Ball
24:00 Random

No back to back Arcade tournaments and with one additional Random and UK8 tournament each thrown in to fill the last two spaces. No 9 Ball Arcade Speed - but I would see one of the 9 Ball Arcades change to a 9 Ball Arcade Speed Marathon.

Allows for a 'Major' tournament each night (UK peak time) with alternate day UK8 and US8 Marathons at 10pm (GMT) - a trip back down memory lane to the old days when they were the blue ribband events!! Maybe even add a stat for 'Major Wins'?

I like the idea of "majors"...for me that would be the only worthwhile element of the site worth coming back to play for. I think it's ridiculous the amount of tournaments that are on daily, literally anyone can win tournaments and while that may be seen as a good thing, it ultimately doesn't give a true reflection of someone's ability.

A couple of months ago I think I was 11th on the overall tournament wins table and now I'm 18th...the crazy thing about that is there are 4 maybe 5 players above me who are rather average and have the amount of tournament wins they have simply because they play so much. I don't see how that can be enjoyable. There's little to no challenge in winning (most) tournaments now, whereas back when I first started playing and up until a couple of years ago there was masses of players in tournaments and winning even just one a day felt like a decent achievement. I don't understand why there's still so many tournaments when it's glaringly obvious that the vast majority of users disapprove of the schedule.

I understand that what I've said has been mentioned already in the thread but I figure with a bit of reiteration perhaps something might actually be done and opinions be heard and put to practical use. I'm certainly with those who said "if it's not broke don't fix it"...to me, the damage has already been done, and the opposite very much rings true right now!

Actually is one every 16 hours - however you could put an additional one back in place of the Random at Midnight on Day 2.

I also liked the 25 hour rotating schedule - cant remember why Nick was anti it - particularly as fixed schedules have not been regularly changed.

With one 25 hour schedule for all tournament types it would make the gap between similar tournaments something like 7 hours. That is a lot. I would rather see the Arcade tournaments alternate something like this...

1 Straight Speed
2 UK8
3 9 Ball Speed
4 8 Ball
5 8 Ball Arcade
6 UK8
7 9 Ball
8 8 Ball Marathon
9 9 Ball Arcade
10 UK8 Speed
11 9 Ball
12 8 Ball
13 Straight
14 UK8
15 9 Ball Marathon
16 8 Ball
17 8 Ball Arcade
18 UK8
19 9 Ball
20 8 Ball Speed
21 9 Ball Arcade
22 UK8 Marathon
23 9 Ball
24 8 Ball
25 Random

the straight tourny it self needs sorting out . in a straight speed final i was on a run of 73 and had my 1 minute warning so had to stop potting as i was about to get dq and my run end i could possibly had a 100 in a 10sec game

good point few things i would like added for straight tournaments.

1) NO time limit in finals, you don't need it since their are no rounds afterwards (for all tournaments)

2) In Straight if you get to 35 you should win regardless of what happens afterwards also your run should be recorded up to that point (disconnection, bootings from mods maybe the only exceptions) since their is no 'equal innings' like carom.

Point 1) No you need the time limit in any final to keep the game rules constant for a whole tournament.

Point 2) Yes the game result should lock at the point the first player reaches 35 regardless of whether you then play on and are in still in play at the point the time expires.

Failing that the best option for everyone would be to end any tournament game at the point 35 is reached. Then everyone knows where they stand, makes sense within the tournament rules as written and you also avoid circumstances where all other games in a round may have finished but players are waiting tediously for someone on a run to miss either intentionally or not.

I like micro tournies and think they are important for the following reasons...
- Those of us not in clans struggle to get a game quickly and micro tournies provide this
- Three quick games is a nice number for the casual funkypooler
- Nice to have little run and knock out games have an edge
- New users to pool will want invites and a chance to play. No new players then no future pool players and the site dies. No one is going to join up and wait for ranked public games and few will give the big tournies a chance after they join as they won't be ready to win one. They'll be gone in a flash and the site struggles.

New users and the casual player like myself are an important side to the site too so don't forget this!

I think tournapoints shouldn't apply to Micro Tournies though. You sometimes can win a tourny just by entering and no one else shows up. This wrecks the "achievement" of winning an actual tourny for those who enter them.

A balance is needed. Make the big tournies attractive to win again but keep micro tournies without tourny points because they do serve a purpose. I think everyone is a winner if that happens.

Simple answer is take away tourny points from the Micro tournaments I think.
