I rmember a Uk marathon tournament which took nearly 4 hours as it got the max amount of entrants which I believe is 120 (or there abouts prob 128) and Had people like Onua, Kirk, Jimmy, Myself, Poolbiird (When she was good), Andyw1 and a lot more players at the top of their game all in the one tournament, it was epic. Now we are lucky if we get like 20-30 members in 1, we used to get that in the tournaments that were at like 10am etc when people are in school and work.

I cant remember when game peaked or number of tournaments etc,but I cant remember u mich pal, and obv would cos of ur ability, but I remember when onua andy and poolbird were all top uk mara players, and when jimmy first came to my attention under jonny summet or other I think, maras then were always around 3 4 hour mark, ive played poolbird in semis let alone the final with over 10 watching , I think tournapoints are pointless, mor emphasis needs to be put on less but better tournaments, say uk mara primetime 9pm, 9 or 8 ball at 7 and so on so forth, and I think another problem and people will disagree is resetting stats,

for eg.
A genuine first time newbie comes plays a few then enters a tourney and plays say foxy147 at uk 8 691.7, and foxy licks him 3 0, now this kids just gunner think hes poo when he knows theres players on 800 900 plus and players on 690 or 7 balling him, hes just going to pack in , theres no structure to the ranking points no more

I remember some er them accounts mate I think the number ones,ive been on 6 year pal, I think busiest ive seen it were about 5 yr ago, there used to be 5 over 800 games at uk and 9 ball every night and ranking system were better and easier to maintain, now its just a yoyo

I miss the older days on here I remember the nights when the 8 uk marathon used to be like 10 at night or summin till 2 ish miss those days

Yeah thanks for the mention mich and derik. I was at the top of my game only because I was unemployed for a couple years, meaning the longer you spend on this site, your form will be better obviously. Since I am employed, I cannot do this anymore

The more players enter, the better and funner, I agree. Now im stuck entering at night because of my work hours and different time zone =/

Keep the tournapoints if you really want to, they're pointless anyway. All that really needs to be done is having 1 tournament every hour. Like mich, onua, etc are saying, the fun tournaments are when you have 80+ players (especially top players) all in the same tournament. Can't remember even seeing 40+ in a tournament in the past couple years. The new players on the site don't even know what the hell we're talking about, set it back to how it was for a couple weeks, and then see how the majority of players prefer it.

Agreed, tournaments every 10 seconds (or thereabouts) is a bit nonsensical!

7 tournaments an hour.... lol. Even 3 tournaments an hour seems alot

Used to be 3 a day, people moaned, things changed. People then moaned.

Everyone has their opinions towards the highs and lows of this game , its boring waiting for games because of the mass majority of players in micro tournaments which blocks up the time space for people to actually have a couple of decent games. Yes people will advance my argument for the way this game has been affected , people will moan saying you don't have to join the tournament if you do not want to . My response to that would be "yes i have the option to join or not , what i'm specifically saying is that people are too bothered about tournapoints now and it has overwritten everyone's mind making people join more tournaments.

My second argumentation is that is this game even being advertised ? Not just that we need the legends back such as Adidas , onua and alot more but we need them back Well they do play not as much as i just relised

I agree there is a certain inevitability that we'll always have various players who are unhappy with the way things are regards the current situation but I think it helps. We're never going to find a perfect situation therefore things must change and adapt and I for one am simply going with the flow and still enjoying the game.

I will add my voice to the chorus of '05-'09 being the golden years, playing back then was admittedly a lot more fun than it is now for all the reasons given by all those above . However I feel it is important to move on and possibly doing so in the right way for the benefit of the site and its players may lead us veterans back to familiar ground. Who knows.

I'd like to see more opinions of the game, possible improvements and the like from those who have recently joined the site and did not experience much before tournapoints/arcades.

iam_me As much as I'd like to see kev, paula, kris, pete and all those familiar faces more often I dont think the answer to the sites problems lie with bringing them back I believe we need new faces, new legends. Saying that, just having the site being popular again would suit me down to the ground.

Seriously, back when the site was busiest, social media as we know it now didn't exist. Funkypool, and its predecessors, were pretty rare in offering chat and online gaming with other people without it having to be pre-arranged.

Sadly, I doubt it will be possible to draw those sorts of numbers regularly now..

Why try to fix or change what isnt broken though? I'm not really trying to complain because I believe nick has done an absolutely amazing job with this site no matter what, it just seems as though (like hightops stated) 05-09 were the good years....and myspace was around then, with other social networks, so I dont believe social media is the problem lol

Yes, but those type of sites, at that time, didn't feature games you can play with your friends, live chat, etc.
