Nick, we all respect what you did for us creating and running this site,
but let me quote myself from earlier post in case you didn't read it:

in my humble opinion .....being someone who has used this site for a few years ...won a few tournies , had a bit rank (serial deactivater, huff taker and previous bannee.)..it boils down to this , previously if you wanted to be a rank orientated player there was that option , if you wanted to be enter the tournies there was also that option....the choice has been removed , its rank or nowt now , which means the higher ranked point hungry players will enter more tournies and i think that while it will drive the standards up it will also dishearten bread and butter players who feel theres no chance of winning, leaving the top ten percent with a site they welcome and the rest of us looking for something else to do.....comments welcome

First your quite unique in your view that it should be ranked but only at the same level. This was something that was also considered, though.

The real problem here is the old system we've used for quite a while was flawed, tournaments were treated as lower class people didn't turn up for, didn't play tactically (eg gambling on a run out instead of going for the win), and there was no prestige in winning a tournament (tournament result was a number on your profile). People also heavily picked and chose who they played with the old ranked games. This was certainly never the intention.

I think this now seems to be quite logically set out, with 3 distinct levels of games represented by the increased ranking weights associated.

Hey nick can you put for tournaments in play, how much tournapoints its worth, would like to know how much im playing for as i tend to forget

seems to me your alienating ur mass membership to accomodate the few , dunno wat the advertisers will feel about it

HI all, this has probably been mentioned before on this particualr thread but I think that actually using ranked points in tournaments is challenging but also unfair because I play fluker (not mentioning any names) and I lose like 5-8 points! Some of yous might say " well its your problem" and others may say " he is right", whatever the case may be I want to know if it could be some tournaments that are ranked.

Nick as you've seen with the double rankings there's a clear divide. Why not bring out the older server stats for a week aswell and see the difference in enterants?

This way you can get a clearer example of how many want what, or what works better instead of just changing and leaving it like that fullstop?

No - it will take some time to get it out of people's minds that rank shouldn't be a reason to play or not play a game, so I certainly wont confuse the issue by reverting these considered changes.

It needs time for people to get accustomed, and for the previous players who avoided ranked games to reach their level. However, I'm already very happy with the overall response from the players.

Going through this thread there is 16 people for and 12 people against - this is interesting feedback. Other changes have had overwhelming negative feedback - yet have gone on to be preferred once people get accustomed.

I am enjoying the tournapoints update so make that 17 people for. I am of the opinion that people will get used to it in the end and as spinner pointed out in the chat room a few moments ago, they will most likely forget about what it was like before.

I am for the tournaments being ranked. I just think the weighting difference between ordinary ranked games and tournament ranked games should be a little less.

Yeah ranked tournaments too, i agree with the idea of not being able to pick and choose who you play in ranked games.

It is something that can be tuned, but I think we should wait a bit longer to see how things pan out.

Just to clarify a few questions that were asked in game:

- If the previous ranked games changed rank at 1.0, tournament games now change rank at 1.2, ranked games change at 0.6. Therefore if you lose 6 points in a tournament game now, you would have lost 5 points in the previous equivalent ranked game before, it's not that big a change here.

- Reducing the points won and lost will not help with keeping your ranking. Reducing it will eventually reduce people's ranking (due to less system entropy) and will increase the affect of the daily reduction.
