Title: Leaving

Oh what a tangled web we weave,
And the weekend nears, when I do leave.
Back up to uni, to increase my story,
Of miraculous nights and new-found glory.
To live with no cash, and start up my band,
For me to write new songs with my poetic hand.
To seek another year, of festival fun,
To escape my home-town and more even my mum!

But oh how sad it will be to leave this site,
And without the internet I'll think every night;
About how your all doing, and what has been said,
Wondering the opinion of me inside your heads.
This is the thread that I'll miss the most,
But still here will linger, my heartbroken ghost.
The first chance I'll get, I will leave a note,
About how much I miss it, and how my heart dotes.
But it wont be long until my internets back,
And I'll be here writing, as happy as Jack.
So fear not my junkies, all will be well,
But the next few weeks without Funky, will surely be hell.

Not too long ago, on a night like any other,
I promised you one of these, my love.
Now, normally I wouldn't even bother
But since your expectations have grown so much taller,
I figured I'd better find somewhere to start
Clueing you in about this thing called my "heart."

It's always beat twice for you, my dear,
Even more so when I noticed that first tear.
I've known since the beginning that we'd be great friends
And we've gone through great lengths to make those amends.
When push came to shove, and we both got hurt
We were lucky enough to find someone else alert.
He saw through our stubborn, petty frost
And made us believe when we thought all was lost.
To that friend, you know exactly of whom I speak,
Thanks to you, the future no longer looks so bleak.

But now, my love, now it is your turn.
You've always known right when to show me concern.
And also when to just keep your mouth shut
When into my heart did his hateful words cut.
You've seen me stumble, seen my head bow low,
My soul's taken a beating from this godforsaken foe.
And yet you are still here, still holding my hand
You're forcing me to arise from my place in the sand.
You say "Katie, please, it's better to take a stand
Than to remain a fallen soldier in a foreign land."
Well, my friend, I am listening to you now.
I've taken your advice and I've taken a vow:
Never again shall he cut me right to the quick,
Nor shall he make me feel so small, so sick.
I'm done with his lies, with his own take on "family"
It's time I grab back ahold of my sanity.
And yes, it's true, hearts are broken everyday,
But now, after all we've been through, it's safe to say
That thanks to you, I now have the strength to see
And I know that I've never had a friend truer than thee.
