What's to stop you having the same format you have now in FBL where 6 frames of each type per game and only 3 frames of straight (each frame worth 2 points)

The idea is to have a long, medium and short format with different scoring, changing to the above suggestion would give you that, this way the only change in the FBL would be dropping from 8 to 6 of each type to make it the shorter, with no arcade lol, FBL scoring would remain as it is.

team match league, and frame count league, both long enough to be accurate.

and with FBL only 6 frames per match, there will still be a league that optimizes the chance of upsets. Even better than SL did, considering arcade being added in, and the fact it won't have bonuses for runouts/GB's. The bonuses really favor the better players, as lucky as they may be.

I love how FBL is purely a specialists league - is there really anyone on the site that considers themselves an arcade specialist? I'm nowhere near a top player, and I absolutely despise the arcade forms. In tournaments I think it's a disgrace anyone can gain tournapoints entering them!!!

Could we not just set up a separate arcade league if there are enough gormless degenerates to create the demand?

Your post is a lot more disrespectful.

The problem is that the "long" format in your scenario - is what we all consider the normal format. It doesn't seem particularly long to most of us, to the point that anything less feels like a very unsatisfactory "short" format already! FCL is everyone's favourite mainly because it's so well rounded, and it's format should probably be described "medium". The other two leagues will always be way behind in terms of enjoyment, especially if they're aimed to a demand that simply doesn't exist.

I'm all for backing the runner 100% and believe you have to respect their beliefs as they're the ones putting in the time. If however, you're trying to cater to the demands of the active players - then almost no-one wants reduced frames.

Solved? Have you not read how popular the thought of arcade is, I agree that by adding it, it would increase the chance of upsets in a short format but other seem to grudge this factor. But I can see already that we are never going to get agreement on anything so we are not going to get progress anytime soon
