whats stopping there being 8 or 12 frames of all the other types and there being 4 straight frames worth 2 or 3 points each being played?

nothing , was just considering 12 frames of others, and 4 games of straight worth 3 each

Well, everything is debatable....
I'd just like to see a decent format that is worth the same as the other types, unlike what we have now which is pretty much a coin flip

What would be wrong with 6 frames of straight worth 2 points? Introduce a rule that people have to stop at 35. Wouldn't take any longer than a regular or original match on snooker.
Looking at 30/40 minutes on the speed of tourneys where players play 4 frames and have to wait for others

I'm fine with it, just expecting people to say it takes too long to play. The 35 thing would help, I always thought it rude to continue anyway in a clan match, if there's yet another game to be played.

So if i get it right in FCL if u reach 61 points u dont have to play the rest of tHe games?

I cant see many players whom dislike straight, but have been put there by their captain (as i was last season multiple times) wanting to play 6 frames of straight... Although again, that can be put down to the Captain not giving a player their favourite or second favourite types.

No, you would as frame difference would come into play should teams be tied on the same points, although there wouldnt be as much emphasis on finishing games.

I agree with the above (corsair's post before) BUT there are some players who will play Straight (even though they really despise that type) to accommodate to get the fixtures completed. Surely if they strike gold and hit a decent run they should be entitled to see how high they can get.
Granted there are a few on here who can hit 35 with their eyes closed but to some it's a real achievement. Why should they be tarred with the same brush. I personally think that like in poker or other games where there's sometimes a WAGER there be an agreement between the 2 players via offline message with what they intend to do. (just send to Captain and sorted)
So basically instead of being dictated by the rules the players (individuals) determine their own match criteria. IF they agree to stop at 35 then fantastic if no agreement then play as normal.
Would that work?

Yeah that would mean more games going to default as the team who lose wont try much anymore.
I dont like this format, it can work well only on short formats like SL for example. In FCL , unless u reduce the number of games in a fixture i cant see it being a success

I think this is a byproduct of the system now where the format means straight is too unpredictable so captains put anyone there (no disrespect)

But if the game is already won, does that really matter?.. All it's going to do is award your opponents a wider margin of victory.
I would see the flip side, it might encourage players to play their games early instead of waiting near deadline day. Because if you want your result to really count, you gotta play early.

Or maybe some teams don't have straight players that excel and know that they may be playing you or Sam, corsair. In all honesty as much as I enjoy a challenge and enjoy playing, sitting watching you pot balls for an hour wouldn't fill me with joy

Lol Mat, and to think he doesnt want to play straight next season

Thats because faust sent the lineups in the last two sets of fixtures. So blame him!

I did for Knights as legend_pot was doing exams, i try and avoid Straight (and UK if i can help it) in clan matches as don't like the tactical nature what surrounds them but love the US games lol.
If needs must though
As for format, Half Straight worth Double Points, even though i feel Straight would have an edge it makes it fair on the points scale
