Doesn't look any different to what has been said previous, you're starting the season with less first team players than you ended with last season. Players have rejected you and the season is already starting, if these deals don't go through soon you'll get close to panic buy time again.

I agree, players need to be bought in asap, but the pre-season were unbeaten, Tyler Blackett looks very promising, Reece James has been good too. Ashley Young down the right flank seems more adept there.

Fletcher is like having a new signing - most of them all know each other, only Proper signing is Herrera and he will be a brilliant acquisition - no one has mentioned him as best buy of the Season.

I think he is followed by Bojan to SCFC, also Sigurdsson to Swansea, cracking player..

Signings WILL be made and they wont be PANIC ones as they have all been summoned to the Panic Room at Melwood.

Great first goal of the season! Brilliant build up and team play, United's defence look shaky but they are getting some good time in the final third. There are more goals for both sides I think.

Yeah caught on counter attack, were a good goal, still think 2nd half will turn it around. Maybe swap Young and Januzaj take off Hernandez for Nani go 3:4:3

Well played Swansea, they're shaped up to be a decent outfit and they could push for the top half. Their game plan worked to a tee and they stuck to it and probably deserved the win. Gomis looks well suited to the prem, him andBony could do some damage to Swansea's opponents this season.

United were better in the second half, but that defence isn't going to break into the top four. They threatened out wide big only Rooney really threatened the goal. Januzaj needs coaching to release his potential fully. Jones made some great tackles and I think he could stay in the LVG era.

Other than that United were all bark and no bite, Fellaini on and going up top? I thought LVG was supposed to be a tactical genius, why is he reading from the book of Moyes? The match showed the value of an unbeaten pre-season, absolutely worthless and meaningless.

You need 4 more new players minimum, to even challenge for the top 4. A CB or two, a winger or two and a deep midfielder. If you can keep RVP and Rooney fit all season then you'll be alright upfront, but Chicharito is awful (Only useful as a sub) and Welbeck isn't particularly useful behind your main two.

lol Palace 1-0 - get in Hangeland.

Did he really need send him off? And where did 5 minutes come from?

According to Jim White (Sky Sports News) Mehdi Benatia is on his way to Man Utd. £24m

Been quite a few of those reports though, I'll believe it when I see it though.

Anyone else seen the vine circulating of the Ashley Young incident today?

Interesting that those deals that were 'practically complete' and would 'happen any day now' haven't quite come off for United eh Ash!

Judging by today's display, you need 2 RB's 2CB's a LB, 2 or 3 CM's, a strong winger (Robben/Hulk) and I wouldn't let the transfer window close without seeing Van Persie play a full 90 minutes. If he doesn't perform and you don't sign a striker, its going to be a very disappointing season!!

Swansea and Leicester deserve a lot of credit for their performances today and both deserved the results they got. I also think Palace were greatly unfortunate not only to not get a win but not even a draw. They played amazingly well considering the behind the scenes situation. Swansea's signings look really impressive in Montero, Gomis and Sigurdsson. Leicester caught my attention the most today, their defence were extremely resilient against a high intensity Everton side and they picked their moments well when going forward and attacking. Tottenham were unimpressive and I think they need to work with the squad they have as opposed to spending more money. All the players they signed last season are proven performers, its just about getting them to play in a way that gels.

All in all, the lesser clubs impressed me a hell of a lot more than the bigger clubs but hopefully City, Chelsea and Liverpool can remedy the big club stumble that caught Arsenal and United.

Yeah very frustrating they haven't tbh but still have faith.

I thought the best defender by a country mile today were Liam Moore for Leicester City, wow what a player he could be. Villa played very well today not allowing Stoke any time on the ball (to top that off Port Vale won 3-1 - Get in LADS). CPFC were very unlucky not to get the draw and why the Ref gave a red card is beyond me. Yes the tackle were late but common sense should have prevailed, match nearly over.

Hull City the penalty against were abysmal decison, luckily QPR missed and McGregor saved. Sanchez for Arsenal looked well off the pace, their best player were Koscielny, says a lot bout their team.

United - Well despite the loss to a very well played match by Swansea, when LVG took over Bayern Munchen he were 7th after 13 matches yet still won their title, so if anyone can turn it around will be LVG.

Believe - Been linked to Benatia (SSN - Jim White £24m, Fredy Guarin and Iker Muniain this evening/morning.

Benatia will be a start hopefully will act and encourage a snowball effect.

Southampton to beat Liverpool later - under estimate Dusan Tadic at your peril and Grazziole Pele. Newcastle to shock Man City with a 2-2 later too.

United deserved to lose their game, some awful play in the end. Swansea played well which surprised me.

Hull deserved to win their game, that penalty decision was shocking though. Great save by McGregor has to be said.

I believe Newcastle play tomorrow as well as a few others so i will more than likely watch that game as i like to follow what The Toon does.

I can't see Liverpool and City faltering, there's not been a big win so far and there's bound to be one with the top 3 teams playing. Liverpool 3-1, City 2-0, Chelsea 3-0.

After yesterday's performance I would expect less players to sign.

That season with Bayern they had previously finished 2nd in the league so were way down on where they should be, United are not so. They're in a much more competitive league. He also repeated the poor start the following season and got sacked. He also did a similar thing with Barca (though they were defending champions), 4 times he has finished within a place of where he was at 13 games and the other time he was in the top four at 11 games and won it with AZ (which is the only time he took a team from mid table to a title)

I'm calling it now, LVG is not good enough to turn the current United team into champions. They will have little in the way of a title challenge.

Think its harsh to say LVG isn't good enough. The team isn't good enough, they lack confidence and morale, two things that will have been smashed by loss at home to Swansea. I just think LVG is the wrong type of manager at the moment. You don't want someone who's gonna get all angry with them, right now they need a natural motivator and about 6 signings. Had LVG taken over after Fergie I think it would be a different story!

Only 6 signings?

I can only think of 1 player which started yesterday, which I would want in my LFC team, and that was Rooney.

Not a single other player would get a look in, 6 world class signings might help them close the gap on the top 4, but they need a new squad, and quick.

I would take Mata (his creation was the only decent thing in the pitch) and Januzaj (he'll be a good prem winger in a year or two, he's not quite there yet).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying LVG is a bad manager. Just that United squad doesn't compare to the rest of the league. It doesn't stand a chance unless LVG can massively overhaul it and gel them together straight away and with just over 2 weeks left of a 12 week window, it doesn't look likely they'll bring in enough.

I think they should've brought in the easy targets first to get the ball rolling, clearly Blind wants to come and his club know that but there's no United bid. It's almost as bad as last season
