Don't think it'll happen, we have Lambert who fits that role and Lambert's wages are less than half of what Eto'o wants. I don't think the players we have bought are average at all, how can they be when they haven't been given the chance to prove themselves in the prem (apart from the Southampton boys, who already have proven themselves and were good enough to get into their respective world cup squads).

Markovic, Manquillo and Can have looked comfortable in the system. Last season, though Suarez was more prolific, Sturridge actually came in with more important goals. The squad depth is now there and Manquillo is definitely a prospect for signing of the season considering how cheap he came in.

Coutinho was in the same bracket as those three mentioned when he was brought in. His market value is now more than double what we paid for him, a good season in the CL will only increase that

Lambert fits what role? he has been so badly off the pace in pre season. DS and sterling with him up there, he's not even fit to keep up, waste of money imo

An older striker with proven success in the prem and internationally who can offer a different dimension to our game, who doesn't fit in with the buying young policy but will accept a role where he doesn't get as my game time to put the club before himself

He should have stayed at Southampton, at least were pretty much guaranteed first team football. Signed under false pretence and now is surrounded by ever newer players. Way to go Brendan, one way to really kick and knock someone's morale.

Liverpool have looked nothing but average in their pre-season, won 4-0 vs Dortmund, so what Hummels, Reus and others didn't even play.

So many incoming players and when they fail to perform then it'll be Brendan's head on the chopping block not the players.

This is more trolling than an evidence based post.

I did already tell you about Lambert, but of course you ignored evidence in favour of your own personal opinion. Rickie Lambert is a lot more professional than you, the only hint of false pretence is that he currently has a bigger role at the club than he was expecting. He is getting to play at his boyhood club with the prospect of CL football having left a club offloading it's stars. Since the obvious evidence is enough, how about the horse's mouth:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2702077/Rickie-Lambert-insists-no-sentiment-Liverpool-move.html#ixzz3AO4rvJSj

No damaged morale, despite your wild accusation which is based purely on guesswork

Liverpool have looked pretty impressive, which culminated itself in the 4-0 win at Dortmund (who still have a good team without those two) where we (most importantly) looked fully fit and ready.

Contrast that to United's 2-1 win over a poor poor Valencia, needing a last minute win from a player who was booed by his own fans less than a year after joining the club. Yeah, that's not damaging to the player's morale is it? And win's over Liverpool and Real Madrid when they were missing key players, isn't a good or impressive pre-season.

Oh and the incoming players, United's exodus of 4-5 regular players and currently have brought in 2 with the hopes of bringing in more after the pre-season is finished who will be going straight into the starting XI (yeah, they're going to know the system inside out). You yourself have said "Those 6/7 will do and a cryptic clue for another signing 'a wine forward' (Striker/Forward)" which would be a potential 10 players brought in (almost all with less than a week with the club if they even manage to sign before the first game) and a good 6-7 leaving who were regulars. Therein lies the hypocrisy. Liverpool have brought in 6 so far (1 more pending a medical and another striker expected) rising to 8, whilst getting rid of 1 first team regular. A change of 9, compared to 17 and the majority of Liverpool signings won't be brought in as first team regulars like United's. Rodger's is under no pressure. Van Gaal, however, has to perform.

Pulis has left Palace by mutual consent, what a bad move for Palace after where he has taken them from/to

They want Glenn Hoddle or rumour has it David Moyes moving to London. Can't help but think Pulis will end up at NUFC before long.

Cannot believe Pulis has gone. Ridiculous decision....Malky is favourite I think. I can't see Moyes taking Palace on in my opinion, too small a club after having arguably one of the biggest managerial rolls on the planet...but that's just my opinion.

Could potentially be Neil Lennon? He's desperate to manage in the Prem. Not sure how he'd get on though.

Tempted to lower City down a place or two, but I'll stick to what I said a while back:

Chelsea
City
Liverpool
Arsenal
United
Everton
Spurs

Still waiting for this United spending spree to occur, it's gonna be a long 48 hours.

United have a lot of business left to do if they are to challenge for the top 4. The top four have all improved well, United haven't. Their can he of manager might help them be a lead runner for the Europa places, but there is a gap between those teams and the top four.

I agree, atm - but I think if they get some additions along with their best signing they could have made (LVG) then they could surprise a lot of teams and people alike,

Chelsea on paper have the strongest squad, will the team morale and ethic be sustained whole season, I don't think so. A fair few will not be played and unrest will likely occur.
