Seeing as Joe is the official league disciplinarian, it makes sense!

When you're picking your people, bare in mind not to ask anyone with a league running duty who can see default info. Not that anyone would be biased, just stops people saying it can be biased.

The ONLY thing you can and should predict is nothing, the majority of players are better than their stats prove. Tombo1 lost for example to w_hoolahan 12-3, on another day I would say 7-8, 8-7 maybe 9-6 either way. Some of your panel wont know tombo's real ability and mark him way down. How is that accurate, fair, respectful to the player himself or even his team?

Defaults points should ONLY be responsible for EFFORT, information submitted, reasonable application from players and team(ie Captain or Vices Actions). Also I think subs should not be permitted 48 hours from deadline day and especially NOT on deadline day as this needs eradicating from teams trying to get one over another. (just an idea).

I realise no one wants teams folding during the season, but surely its now time for something to be done about Eagles :

Effort made is still the biggest factor, but the goal of a default score is to prevent any alterations caused to the league standings because the game wasn't played.
What better way to do that, than start with the most probable score, had the game been played?

The sub issue was talked about, I think it was decided that defaults will be made with the player that was there at the start of the fixture period, or was there for the majority of it.

It takes out all biases (such as your own about tombo, as a captain is more likely to expect a bit more from his players than others) and goes for a middle ground. It's not about what would happen for one match. It's about if the match was played 100 times, as this is most likely to give the most accurate result without actually playing the match.

It significantly reduces the impact a default has on the overall likely outcome. Also I don't think limiting people on subs is the best way to reduce defaults at all.

Personally I didn't think Tombo would beat Harry, it was very unlikely. Though the scoreline he did get I didn't expect. I would've said 10-5 to Harry would've been good, maybe 9-6.

This is why, when a default happens, the member from each team on the panel, is not allowed to vote or have any say in the matter.

Obviously people selected for the panel, will look at previous scores against opponents and take that into consideration. In your example, Ash, I think tombo1 is a very capable player, he's had some good results, but Harry is better. If that match had've gone to default, I'd probably have predicted 9-6 or possibly 10-5 to hoola-hoops.

I know im being biased, it were just an example, (poor one at that), but I still dont see how a panel can play judge and jury over whether someone will win or not. Also why should a player who messages, arranges, plays their match, loses say 11-4 through EFFORT have their score super-ceeded by another players score through what a panel of well who cares what they are, just because they think the other players better, its WRONG.

Default Means NONE
The League Runners are meant to monitor things, if they dont see any activity about a certain match, what's to stop them messaging Captains and mentioning it. Would wakeup some Captains, make them active and reduce defaults a hell of a lot. (call it a gentle nudge, apart from releasing fixtures what running are they doing, sarah does the updating of scores)

Im 100% against this panel prediction malarky and regardless whos idea it were I have stated shadwell17 (co capt) will be Phoenix Storms rep, that is my recommendation.

They've picked up another 7 defaults in fixtures 5 and 6

If the website is fully updated

we having same problem player deactivated and 14 days offline in fixtures plus few more.

I have been asked by pirate_steve, if I can be the rep for the Phoenix Storm clan, as it was my idea and I know what the idea is trying to achieve.

No offense to shad, but there can not be 2 members from the same clan.

Yeah, in Eagles defence kingdadcool did make a few subs last night so at least some action has been taken, unlike some who prefer to count down the days from deadline. Doesn't change the fact a players still inactive. Why should a player bother making any more effort when its obviously one way?
I think Eagles are aware of the current predicament they are in, lets try help than slate and hinder them. I agree with the mention earlier about offering them some emergency players (shock shock horror Craig we agree lol), will be happy to borrow some from Phoenix if thats granted.

Collecting the team lists, following up those who don't send it in, updating the scores/swaps/subs/teams (It's not just Sarah, though she does a great job), created and maintain the tables and adjust where necessary, create the new fixtures sheets, maintain the sites and ensure they are up-to-date, deal with queries, discuss defaults, ensure next season has runners, guide and give input on the debates where necessary and that is just off the top of my head.

All that does take quite a few hours of your week

Good nice to hear, from an outsider were just wondering. Surely all are designated to an individual, so not everyone need do the same thing and tread on each others toes. (structure).

I didn't mean come across as pompous or anything just nice to know, i do think they could be a little more hands on so to speak. Maybe a little more vocal on threads offering some teams some encouragement etc.

I don't see why they should, Ash. They run the leagues, not the teams! Plus, I'm sure they all have lives outside of FP and other things they need to do. They're already giving up umpteen hours of their weeks to do this all for free..
