id say at least 90% of the ppl that play the tournies are in a clan so still doesnt explain where all the non clan players are or why chatroom empty my opinion they just dont come on anymore because clans totaly dominate this site now just my opinion

I'd go as far as to say pool is not the best place to be if you are not in a clan.

Wont add to that^ but Jay has a fair point agree, if theyre were more ranked tournaments like b4 and more marithons..it would be lively again. Too many friendly tournys, that people dont even join, im nick will take notice soon, maybe he wants more feedback, but most friendly tournys rarely have many in it, or no 1 joins simple. I remember when u could join a marathon with like 35-50 players sometimes lol..ahh the old days.

And geordie thats not true, tons and tons of these clanless players could all join up make couple teams..but would they be reliable?

there not allowed to make a clan and join unless they have already been in a clan previously so it tends to be most clan players just move from clan to clan there own little club

My point is it's not that great for anyone not in a clan - so it means you almost have to join a clan to get the full benefit of funkypool. I don't want to be in a clan.

But fair enough if loads of you think it's down to the way rankings are now done but some of you play a lot and are serious about playing. The more casual pool member no longer sticks around. Doubt rankings bother those types tbh

Imagine you are new and you come on pool and see no games. No banter or chat. Do you stick around? No you don't! Because it's all kept within clans and there are too many of them.

So if no one new is sticking around then it's not gonna live on.

its not clans, its tournaments, i think funkys gone downhill since ranked tournaments got brought in and with tournapoints the same old people win so i think why bother? least in a friendly tournament you can have a laugh etc.

if you did a tournament every 2 hours (all friendly not ranked) rather than every 15 minutes with micros then more people would be playing ranked games in a normal environment which is what you want.

chat room is usually busy when i log in which is rare but if tournaments are every 2 hours then the chat room should get busier.

blame ranked tournaments i say.

they could gain rank the simple and honest way by playing ranked games

The old system was one of the most dishonest systems there was though. Randomly paired rank games would work though.

But then you might as well keep ranked tournaments if you just go down that road.

if you mean quieter in the chatroom well for me I used to get into arguments in there so stopped bothering talking mostly just seems to help. Also the fact theres always some plonker in there trolling.
Shame tournaments have less people in now as well :(. oother day was in a 9 pm tourney won roud 1 match and was in quarter finals lol

I don't play at all now really and i am still around almost everyday for a while, yes i may run the leagues and i have to be on but i still come online. Most people don't play now as the ranking system and all the nonsense that follows gets annoying.

Clans have always been around since the Pool Shark days i believe, i don't quite know what you expect to achieve by bringing this up on the forum as clans will never be banned on the site as Nick supports clans fully (even when he is not around as do other admins as i have spoke to them), i would say at least 50% of premium members on this site are also in clans.

There is nothing stopping new players being in a clan, the clan rules that are set out are to stop new players making a clan when they don't even know what it actually takes to run a clan at all. I was an exception to that rule back in the day as i spoke to the then runner and asked permission to do so and i succeeded. If we let all new players run a clan then yes the clan scene would be even larger than it is now but then someone else with the same opinions as yourself would say now the chat is even more dead.

Like i said before i think personally it is the amount of tournaments which are the problem, including the friendly ones as you dont need to get rid of a newbie tag to play in proper tournaments and win some serious ranking points. Either that or people just dont have the time to play on the site anymore as more personal matters take over.

I like the ranked tournaments in all honesty but the actual ranking point system seems to be confusing and not very good. When your a virtuoso or just below that rank then yes the ranking system works fine and dandy.

i dont mean quiter in chatroom in mean the whole site in general your lucky to get 100 ppl online now at one time there used to be atleast 50o in chatroon and loads in members bar there were loads of games to play

Also like Zac pointed out the chat room has and was kind of always a place to attack or insult other players. Ive entered chat room countless times and been there for two minutes and had abuse thrown at me for nothing or by someone i dont talk to or know.
