Back in the day, you'd have more chance of a night out with Jennifer Aniston than getting into chat room straight away. You'd have to wait for your chance in guest room for someone to leave and then go as fast as you can! Nowadays, it's normal to see 12 or 13 people only. Also there used to be loads of available games to play in each pool type. Now it is hard work to get any game.

I know people prefer to go on Facebook and sites like that now. That's the way of the world compared to a few years ago so maybe that is a reason.

But I reckon clans mean everyone is together as a team and tied up in private games leaving the scraps for non-clan members and this is why it seems so much quieter compared to how it used to be.

Thoughts anyone?

totaly agree about no games available very rare to see a clan player playing a ranked game if theres 10 clans with 15 ppl in each thats a lot of ppl tied up in private games

Nice theory but the clan season hasnt been going for a month and even when it is going clan games just take up a couple of hours a fortnight.
Just people generally play less ranked as there are always tourneys on and it's easier getting your ranks up by winning tourneys plus the whole ranking system is a bit messed up with a lot of top players resetting, being on new accounts...not worth the paper it's written on.

Should try the killer games if you wanna have a chat and a laugh with people, you get a good bunch in there and you get the regulars you get to know and great games at the same time...who needs the chatroom.

I used to love it when you actually scored points in ranked games, and tournaments were just friendlies with no rank and none of this tournapoint crap.

I used to get pro in 60 games but nowadays it's just boring. I say bring back how it was, more points for ranked games would please me

Only the the good players get theyre ranks up are in top 50..but thats another tale. Main reason, many of the greats who chatted hardly come on anymore. Now adays its full of noobs, and the funky poolers that have been here years, dont waste thier time lol.

Pool has over done everything and it's not fun anymore. Used to be a great chatty community of people, now, it's full of keyboard warriors and people who take the game too seriously.

I always thought of the chat aspect of this site as the funky part of funkypool. Was a key part of it for me. I still reckon that clans have taken something out of the site. Instead of a more chilled atmosphere you have people who are serious because they want to get into clans, then into the best clans and then compete. Nothing wrong with competition - that's what tournaments are for.

But it's a coincidence since clans became a regular thing that the numbers seem to have dropped and it's less of a fun place.

For the record, I still enjoy pool loads and I'm not having a go at nick or any of the fine chaps who run the show here. Just thought it was really quiet like never seen before and worth a thread.

I think it is a case of people just don't want to sit in the chat room anymore or they just dont have time to come online at all.

Clans have been around for years now so i think it is wrong to blame the clan scene on the lowering numbers in the chat room. I think you need to blame the amount of tournaments that are now active during a day and night.

Another reason you dont see many clan players play normal ranked games is due to the ranking system that is a disgrace right now, you make loads more rank (and lose more) while doing the tournaments and that seems the only way to actually get high ranks. You see some players actually playing 20+ rank games in a row with some other player and all they make is a naff few points or at most 5 - 6.
