Point is you can have people you dont get on with in either league, you either judge things fairly or you don't so it shouldnt matter what league you are judging.
Some of the worst at judging defaults are the 'experienced ones.'

The main annoying thing I find is this grey area where 1 player is active the whole time but doesnt have an active opponent until the last couple of days.
You end up having to sub out your player that has been on and trying to play for 12 days or have it held against you at defaults for leaving them in...no win scenario

I will probably get my head bitten off here for saying this but I do not understand why we even need a defaults panel, why can't the league staff already in place just agree amongst themselves?
EDIT: A league runner gets it in the neck for the panels decisions as it is so wouldn't make any difference

It would as no offence to u or jay but people would then say there is biased decisions being made even if there isn't the panel
Is the best option
To be honest.

Never been biased since being a part of any of the two leagues but as it has been said even then you can still get accused.
Oh and just to clarify again, pixie is not a league runner next season as many seem to think she still is.

Cos then MVP would get even more ridiculous decisions than they already do

06:12 Tue 22 May 12 (BST) [Link] That's because the threshold of what is considered "refusal to play" has been lowered dramatically.
The defaults need to be done according to the guidelines that have been set! All 14 days should be taken into account. If one clan makes all the effort, they should not be judged to be "refusing to play" if they don't sub out their active player on the last day. Simple really.
That's just one situation though. There were defaults that were quite simply terribly far off.

defaults
the system works well the way it is
with all due respect some default panel staff are lazy and dont explain their reasons for scoring, if they did explain how they arrived at their prediction, a league runner or head default panelist for want of a better word, could then advise them of what theyve missed, and assist to get things right
this is fact, i see to many ppl just post a score showing no working out what so ever sorry for being so out spoken, but defaults panels do a great job, but just asking some one nd say ooh do you want to be on the default panel is hardly constructive
were default scores have been so wildly off the mark why has a senior experienced panelist not being more outspoken and questioned it
i look at the work both myself and lee do as default panelists and im sure he would agree we leave no stone un turned, we are never tht far away from where we need to be
what id suggest jay is you open up the defaults go through them and work with players who just predict scores and advise them of what is required, if they continue, then replace them
the key is how they arrived at their prediction,
as for sebs call on not doing an average what purpose would this serve, ??
a minimum of 2 panelists could do a prediction
one at 3-1
one at 1-3
the same predictive score, either one vote each or an average, you miss the point, we would want the scores to be closer, so work with the panelists help them to do the job you want them to do

but i will add the current panel is far better than the charade of last season, before jay got hold of the league
where it blantly breached league rules,
jay why change it
some of the scores were so far off,, beofre you got hold of the FCL
a question i would pose is why are 15 points given out so many times, in defaults

Defaults aren't properly operationalised. Otherwise it wouldn't matter who judged the defaults, they'd all end up with exactly the same score.
It would take effort to come up with and to tweak until correct, but an exact template should be made on how to award points in a default. Including the whole 14 days efforts, messaging, communications, activity, refusals, etc.
I agree with Craig, sometimes the default panel don't seem to know when not to give out a full points awarding and just try to balance the 15 frames on effort between the two players.

That's what I mean, the default panel should never reach such wildly different conclusions that an average needs to be calculated. There should rarely (actually never) be a case where one defaults member says 3-1 and the other says 1-3. In that case, one of them is missing something....
5 default members give a score of:
8-7, 8-7, 8-7, 8-7, 1-14
If you do an average, it comes out as 6-7.
If you do it based on most predicted result, one idiot can be overcome. The score would be 8-7.

12:44 Tue 22 May 12 (BST) [Link] So you're suggesting that the league runner should interfere with the work of the default panel? In that case, it doesn't need to be from the different divisions, because the runner would be interfering anyway.
I definitely agree that within the default forum, panelists should have to explain their vote, not just post the score.

seb its down to the head league runner or supervisor of defaults if you get my drift
to advise the default staff
both myself and lee have done this before and most default ppl improve with this help

But you are acknowledging that some of the panelists were so poor that they needed to be advised lol.
That's what I'm saying, it doesn't really matter how it's composed. To get the scores right, you need people who know what they're doing, no matter what division they come from.
