Oops, I meant to trial one the other night but must have forgotten, will do soon.
Thanks for the updates, it's encouraging to see that even higher ranked players such as yourself can make worthwhile gains.

Restart today has added a default tournament defeat if you don't attend your tournament game.

Grrr i dislike that, sometimes people have to go for good reasons which would then make it unfair if it was unexpected.

The 8 ball marathon tourny dont say it's ranked

Hate this rule i aslo lost ranked to it, if people dont show they dont show, patience is a virtue when did that become irrelevant? Sometimes it cant be helped not showing up when you did have good intentions, strongly disagree with this.

I strongly agree with Nick - lots of people don't show when they don't fancy playing their opponent, can't be bothered,or in another game. On the majority of occasions this is designed to discourage people entering and then not bothering.
Yes there will be exceptions where people have genuine excuses but that's life. In most real life sports occasions if you don't turn up to play the other team are given the win and the points.
In my experience the people who don't show for a tournie are still logged in either in chat room or playing another game and simply cba to play their tournie game and cba to tell their opponent that they won't be playing their match.
Yes there will be times when I have to drop out of a tournie for unforseen reasons but I can live with the consequence of Nick's new rule.....

It's not too harsh though? Forfeiting a tournament only carries a maximum of a single game defeat.
In actuality, people have always lost tournament games by default before (it clearly shows such on the tournament page), but before the code was missing to add this to your stats.
I do agree this is a reason to not join tournaments when you are not 100% sure you have sufficient time to complete, so numbers may well be down.

One of the major benefits of this process will be less byes and less time waiting for an opponent who has no intention of playing. Win win in my view....

You gotta be pretty retarded to enter a tourny and not wanna play lol. Don't see the need for it cos pple who do it wont care about this, it's the innocent that will be punished

Hi Kirk - this is not a dig at you so please don't take offence...
Looking at recent tournies - i.e. the ones that are still showing you have been DQ'd no less than six times out of around 13 entered. Presumably you had every intention of playing but on a high number of occasions you withdrew. That is not the fault of the opponent who then has to wait around for the next round. So the consequence of your DQ results is an entry of lost one game - this will only really affect you if it is a ranked tournament and perhaps then you will reconsider entering so many tournies and then not playing.
Nick - could there be an option to withdraw from tournie before round one starts should a player choose to do so...

This argument doesn't make sense though, seriousness isn't inversely proportional to fun. When playing for fun people usually choose a level of seriousness to suit them.
It just means that tournaments should be overtaking ordinary ranked games in terms of seriousness on the site.
