The loss of table area is the biggest downside for me. Makes a difference now being able to change table colour though.

For MY part, yes, but it's a big deal, no matter how few actual pixels it might me.
Never believed I would ever take this game that seriously, but unless we can get a better space utilization for the table I'm actually considering buying a new, 4:3 monitor
Need way more than a 19" widescreen with 900 vertical pixels to play this game efficiently now

lmao jan-
i am actually doing that right now....i got a new pc a while back but i havent used it, due to problems with it and when it was finally fixed i couldnt get used to funkypool on it as the monitor is bigger and widescreen.
Im about to change over all my speakers and that and start using the new one

i'm sorry i dont like the changes , there is too much fuss on the screen now too many details that i don't think we really need for instance the user pictures , what do we need those for ? we have our names on the left to click onto if we want to look at the profiles , god i get confused at the best of times lol it just got a whole lot worse for me
love the colours we can choose , have to admit though i'm disappointed we never got the girlie pink to cater for the female tastes

Seeing a clear pattern in the lag issue btw, and it's definitely not related to ads in any way.
The game lag spikes at precisely the time the cueball hits the target ball - no later, no sooner. This happens at every single shot, no exceptions.
How long it hangs varies a good deal tho, anything from a few milli seconds up to a complete shot not showing until all balls have settled.
I ran this on a quite old firefox with java 1.5.x so will try again tonight on latest FF and latest JRE.

I'm pretty sure that this is a sound related issue. Waking up the sound causes the delay. Try disabling the sound on the options panel (not anywhere else).
Right now the top panel has been reduced in size. Meaning the table has lost only 3px of height.

On the lag problem: Turning off sound did not help.
I was running JRE 1.5.x and upgrading to 1.6.x seemed to do the trick.

Well that's interesting.
In yesterday's version I ensured the client organized it's memory after swapping tables. Today I removed it on the off chance it caused some other reported problems.
If the gameplay is more smooth for people now I'm sorry for being adamant that the new version couldn't affect gameplay! It should not have affected anything else as it was isolated, but I should know never to trust PCs by now

I've just noticed, when you click 'stop playing', you can't then click 'start playing' again, what if you accidentally click the wrong one?
I think you should be able to click and rejoin

Yes, it's been mentioned elsewhere, a simple method to switch between watching and playing would be useful.
Currently I'm getting a through errors related to the downloading of table and user avatars. We've had 18 in the last 4 hours. I'm working on a fix.

Considering the game being written in Java, you should expect as much
Anyways, JRE 1.5.x vs. 1.6.x definitely made a huge difference to me, so looks like it must be related to one function or another that was somehow changed between the two versions (Java, not the game).
And thanks for putting in the work to get back a good table size. Much better now

Something a bit different.
While practicing, it now seems more logical to press the game choice button of the table you're already on to re-rack/change layout.
This would eliminate the old rack button and make the changing layouts easier for new users to find, especially now the rack button isnt used for anything else.
Edit - actually, it would probably make more sense (and be easier) to leave it as it is but move it up next to the table color change button.
