As ye all know, this competition is to find not a single winning player, but a winning country, which will the one which has players remaining in the compettion after the others are gone.

As I said aaaaages ago, the knockout round will be designed to make the fixtures as diverse as possible (so if country A vs country B is a fixture, we want to minimize these). It's obvious from looking at it that the fixtures for the first knockout round - essentially the quarter-finals - will be as follows:

Ireland vs England
Ireland vs Scotland
Ireland vs Wales
England vs Scotland

A player from each of these countries will battle it out (best of 5) for a place in the last 4.

Also,
- nathyboy and clooneman played in round 1 and will not play in this round, and
- ullyart and colins played in round 1 and will not play in this round.
- nathyboy and mr_mcquiston have identified themselves as group winners and, if possible, will not meet in the next round either.

All remaining matches in this tournament will be first to 3 wins against his opponent, UK 8 ball (duh).

What happens then?
- If three Irish players win, then the remaining British player must beat each in turn. If there are any defeats, then Ireland wins. If the English/Scottish player defeats all three Irish players, then England/Scotland wins. Remember players on the same team never meet.
- For any other combination, a draw will be held to see who meets who - semi-finals as such. If players from the same country win the semis, that country wins. If the last two players are from different countries, they must meet in the final to reveal the winning country.

I think I'll do this again after it's all over, but make it straight knockout.
