@ruddan: lol. then i guess there would be no problem for you if the current table is kept.
@emma: valid point.
@brighteyes: don't get conffuzled. lol. and yes, you do have brighteyes. lol.
@martin: thanks for agreeing partially. :p
@nick: congrats for being a cool real life pool game player too.
@all admins: if people like me who prefer the current US 8 game get fortunate enough to see us playing the same game in future too, then i would suggest that promoting it by messages like "maximizing the frame would give better clarity", "play the real challenging US 8 ball games to test your skills" etc, would be a good idea.

I do not like the US demo table at all.
I like to play UK and US pool because they are different and make a change from each other. When i get bored of the UK table,i switch to the US.You need greater skill on the US and if you just want an easy knock around then play UK.
Do not like the idea of similar tables, will make the site less interesting.
Keep the US table the way it is to provide variety and reward those with higher playing skills. We would just end up with 6pack and all the top UK guys at the top of the US rankings.May as well just copy the rankings across.
I would be interested to here what potsmoker,sharp7,etc think.Sure we all love it because its tough to master. The addiction is improving your skills and moving up the rankings.A monkey could win on the new table.

Good thinking, but the run outs stats started at the same time for both tables.

surely though if the us table had been around for as long as the uk then there would be more run outs?

Does it? If so, why's that a bad thing?
Am I right in assuming that everyone who plays on the US table maximizes the game to use it?
If the game is brought in the table will be redrawn. Currently too much space is wasted on the edge of the table - this can be improved to give a larger playing area with the same ball size.

I do really like this table, but i just think it will be a shame to see the 'old' one go!
EDIT: Just to add nick, is there any way we could have both?

Well, i'd like to see the old tables stay, since i liked them so much when they came along, however, i am happy to admit that if they had just changed during an update, there probably wouldn't be much of a fuss!
Maximising players is the main thing, i mean my favourite table is the proper snooker one, however thats obviously not the majority view since its nigh impossible to get a game on it!
At the end of the day, regardless of how easy/hard the tables are, the better players will still be better!
So yeah, go for it, or have a 30 day trail as suggested before, and if it means there are more players to choose from, then thats the way to go.
Personal preferences and sentimentality cant hold up agains the numbers!

I do think it would be nice to have a distinct choice of game as we have now,if the games are to slowly converge then there will be no variety and you may as well have a single table with a few cosmetic differences.
I do not see how a need for skill on US 8 ball can be a negative.Think of all the top computer games which require great skill to get to the top.No one likes a dead easy game as you get bored very quickly if success is too easy.
Lets keep US 8 ball as a high skill game and UK as a fun knock about. When changes to UK was suggested everyone was up in arms about making it harder. Why should all the games be easy?

Although there's a couple of opposing views here:
1) UK pool is easy yet has huge longevity (look how many people have played 1000s of games)
2) It's equally easy to pot for both players - hence tactics come into it more. Leave a pot on and you will lose to a capable players. Hence the difficulty is relative - it effects both players.
So I think it will be a good game in it's own right.
However I'm currently considering a 30 day trial - but during this period both tables could be available. At the end of this period we can look at the popularity of each table, and choose 1 , both or neither!
Regarding download size the core game could be loaded and then the sub game can be downloaded as required. eg If you play UK pool and the first time you swap to US pool there would be 2-3 seconds delay while loading.
US tournaments would have to be alternated between all 4 games.

I think that all 4 games would be good because then people can play the specific game type they want. Similar to Arcade and Simulation Snooker. Arcade for more fun and Simulation if you want a good long game also for more advanced players. The 4 different tournaments would be hard to work my head around though.
Would it be like this:
UK,
US9 old
US8 new
UK
US9 new
US8 old
I think that would be the best way around it because more people play UK and could play more of those tournaments. I also think UK - US9 old - US8 new goes well because you first have the game most played and quite easy with the pockets, then a small table again but with proper pockets then finally on to the most difficult part with the harder pockets and bigger table. That should be good for building up your gameplay because you would have to improve throughout the tournaments to do better in the harder pool games.
Well thats my opinion anyway.

New one has bigger pockets basically, thats the main difference i noticed
I think the 30 day trial is best - give everyone a look and feel for the new table, not just the ones on the forum. But if i had to choose one, it would be the new one
