Currently it's approximately:
60% UK
20% US 8
20% US 9
Just because it's easier to pot doesn't make it necessarily less of a challenge. Remember your opponent could clear if you miss a shot or safety hence it could equally be considered more challenging.

So what is the split between the three games with regard to active players?

Also more chance of a foul.
E.g. white being potted

Basically this is gonna give the crap players more of a chance? I might just win some!!!!
12:43 Sun 17 Dec 06 (GMT) [Link]
it could give them a chance, but could give the better players less chance of a miss.

Its the same change for everyone so its a moot point!

Yep, what harm could it do really? It effects everybody the same.
Personally, i think all the top players are getting worried because lower ones now have a good chance of catching up!

Hey, i just thought, if these two games were put in wouldnt your overall stats drop loads at first because there would be a whole 2 new games? Has this already been said? Hope not, dont want to be himuliated. =)

Nah keep the US tables the same, if people want to play on a table similar to the one in the demo then try arcade snooker on funkysnooker.

Is it me or are too many things being changed on this site. First it's the layout of the site which in my opinion was a tad random and not really nessacary but after careful consideration and a lot of umming and arrghing it's started to grow on me now!
I've had a few minutes on the demo and my first impressions are EASY! I broke and nearly got a run-out. Personally, I don't see the point of the change when the site seems to be going swimmingly. Game shouldn't always be decided with run-outs and i know this is what you want to improve on Nick , i love a close tactical game where either player could win, and i feel this would be taken away, but I'm sure we can all get used to it in due time!
The trial would give a good idea to what the majority of players feel about the table so im for that, but if it was upto me I'd have to say a no and agree with Mekongmarcus on this one.
As people have already said Uk players would take over Us tables and this would spoil individual tables!

All valid points here, which must make Nicks life even more awkward!
One figure which will have a bearing, and only Nick will know, id how many US pool players (the VAST real-life majority) will come on, and have a go at the US games, but find them tough, and just not bother with UK because its "not thier game" and it is very much an arcade game as opposed to having much realism.
If more players can be gained overall, then its better for everyone.
Personally, i love the current tables, but it is common to wait for long periods of time especially for ranked 9-ball games, so i'd prefer the slight change if it mease more players.

Is this really a bad thing?
Take what spinner and nick said for example, over half of people on the site play UK 8 ball and it wouldn't do any harm with it being leveled out between the three games?

Why does everybody think that Uk players can take over on a slightly easier US table?
Is there any evidence to suggest UK players are better than US players?
In fact, everybody who's posted here suggested the exact opposite - that US players have the greater skill levels because they play on a much harder table.
So, on an even playing field...

i'm happy on what ever you decide nick but, me personally i prefer the bigger table, it makes it more of a CHALLENGE the reason being, is the lower player's will have more of a chance of potting and making more 7-baller's, run-outs ect. but it will also mean that the bigger player's will do alot better but, even if the table doesn't get updated, do we really have a chance of cathing the top players?....
the bigger verion table would make the tables alot more exciting i think, lower players could start to challenge to be in top 50, maybbe ecen top 10+ i no i'll be trying to get higher point's with the bigger table, i find im good on the current table, so most definately better on the one being discussed now!,it would make the game more intresting as well as easier ( but a challenge aswell).. so, why are people dis-agreeing with the idea *confused smiley*

Because it is parallel. You improvve as muchj as I improve etc. so we will all improve. Great. Lose the challenge that is us pool. Whats the point of having us and uk if the table goes that way? just emalgamate them! but I like US so don't!

It's nice to see that i am not alone in wanting a challenging game on the site.To make all the games easy will initially attract more people to play US pool,BUT after a time surely we will all tend to get bored with a very similar table on all three games and choose just one to play.(UK for most)The supporters of a new US table seem to be the UK crowd. Are they bored of the UK table? They will fel the same about the new US table when it is little different.
The vast majority of computer games have various levels requiring increasing skill to continue. They are very popular so why not have the same system on here?Where is the challenge to improve?
OK Nick if you have made up your mind, how about a separate US and UK 8 ball site of high difficulty, say called something like "Funkypool Extreme" for those of us who like to be tested.Leave all those who like easy computer games and the hit and hopers on here.

Yep, that's the main argument for the simpler US pool. In fact, US users use UK pool as much as US pool.
As I said before I'm planning to run both side by side for a while and see how it goes. It could be that the simple and tougher version of each game compliment each other well, and could stay indefinitely (as mekong said - there'd be progressive levels of skill). Maybe new users will learn the US game using the simpler version and drift through to the tougher game.
