The orange ad is causing my com to lag even after it is gone. It should be got rid of totally because it's unplayable. And in response to the rubbish that spinner has been saying, how can you speak for other users when you know very little. You don't have a right to make comments like that.

Seriously though - saturday mornings update seems to be a huge increase on processor demand. Even with no ads to be blamed the lag is so bad its rare to see any ball animation at all. Any ideas on whats different Nick?

Hmmm, there should be no additional lagging, there is a slight code change to shadow the balls, but it should be neglible effect. Has anyone else noticed this? And what's your Java version spinner?

I've noticed no lag connected to the update. When you stopped the ad, my lag went immediately and the game is playing perfectly now.

Still the same setup as before Nick. Tried several versions of Sun and the newest MS VM, the latest Sun (1.5.0.06-b05) seems to be best of the bunch.

As i said before, upgrading to IE7 seemed to cure the problem i've had since the addition of the US games, however after yesterday morning the lag is back, to the extent an opponent has 7 balled me without my table moving atall!

i know its something with this setup, as the older comps play fine, so dont worry, not your problem! Just wondering if you could tell me what had changed so i could guess where to start...

Does UK 8 Ball work ok? Or is it just US Games?

spinner what I meant was that you can't speak for other people, only yourself. And about what I said about the ad, it appears, makes it lag, the ad disappears after a while, but the lag remains. And sorry if I offended you, I was just a bit angry at the time.

I've ordered some new hardware just now, so when that arrives i'll do piece by piece replacements and see if anything makes a difference..

I dunno what's going on because i've been away since friday but this thread popped up and i've been having 1/8 in the corner of the screen very regulary and it's stopping the flow of the game.

Now I was wondering , is there a new Java updated version to be downloaded to make the game work?If there is can anyone link me to it. Thanks.

1/8 means that means your game client is failing to connect to the server. In most cases this is due to internet failure on your network. Ensure you're not using any downloading software, and that you don't have any virus or spyware hogging your bandwidth.

In rare cases it can be caused by load on funkypool server. If so, all users would experience similar occurrences.

So, you shouldn't need to update your Java for this.

I was getting that 1/8 thing on snooker too. Same with problems with lagging.

This has made all games playable, and is painfully simple, i installed a sound card! I've never had one in my home PC, but since installing the game seems to run fairly well. I almost always see some animation now, and rarely skip a shot. Even with the orange ad running!
