Stop trying to make new threads and polls . There is already a perfectly good poll on the go and there is also a perfectly good thread here .

Arguments have stopped now and now all we have to do is keep it alive . IF you have another oppinion keep it to THIS thread so that the admins see it and take care to read the ideas . If you just keep making new posts about the exact same problem it will just end up getting ignored .

Leaving the game after GB attempt is cheating, but I find the GB thing irritating anyway. Partly coz I can't do them , but also because it's the biggest unfairness in the game.

There is no way, in any real game, you could know that by hitting the ball from that certain position and aiming at that certain ball, you could guarantee such a high percentage of GB's. So, basically ppl found a 'cheat' mode. I've bin knocked out of close semis at 1-1 by 'specialists shots'. It takes the competition out of it.

'Cheat' is too strong actually, cos its a legal shot, but lets just say they have found a loophole and are using it to their advantage.

Is there anyway the ability to play this shot can be removed altogether, and the true randomness of GB'ing returned to the game. If the shot were so consistant in international competition - the sport would be finished.

I'm guessing that part of the reason for such regularity has to be to do with the ultra forgiving pockets on the UK table though, and what makes truely randomising the rack more difficult.

They know exactly where to hit it from, ball to aim at, which spin to use (or not at all) tho spinner. That's not really to do with the pockets - it is an easily perfected precision shot, that wouldn't be possible with any consistancy on a real pool table.

I know the shot. Someone showed it me. It takes a lot of practice to get it right, and in learning it the white goes down a lot. I never bothered trying to perfect it, and I never try using it in a game. I'd feel embarrassed to knock someone out of a tourny with it, to tell the truth. But some HAVE perfected it and use it to great effect and, every time they break, the black ball goes down or very nearly goes down, the exact same pocket.

If like you say, its not in the rules of pool (which I thought it was) then why do they notch a win for it? All the other rules seem correct.

This has been discussed many times, but its a funkypool rule, added to give an "extra something" to the online game.

Under common (UK pub) rules, potting the black off break is a loss. Just ask anyone who isnt a rules junkie at any club! This is what amost 100% of real pool players i talk to say.

However the proper updated international and european rules state a re-spot of the black, and a foul conceeded.

I have lots of golden breaks but i think they should be scrapped....Nick made it a win and an acheivement because only 1 person got one a month or so .. they were rare and if u got one everyone congratulated u ... now they say .. oh not another one..re rack the balls if the black is potted it will encourage attacking breaks and better games..

Personally i'd like to see a re-spot. This way the GB can be acknowledged, but the breaker must carry on and play the game, or loose rank.

Any thoughts from GB'ers?

u win a lot of games that way tho Rangers. And you also have the ability to win them without resorting to a one shot victory against which there's no defence.

Why do you want to win games without even playing in them? What exactly is the point, apart from improved statistics?

Its a loophole and therefore a game cheat. You have a vested interest in the rule remaining, so I understand your position, but it's not much fun for those you beat with one shot, is it?

grizzyman19 is another one to avoid by the way. I spend 30 mins getting my rank from 880 to 885. He comes in beats me (fair enough) then stays so i think heres my chance to get rank back. He breaks then logs out. Not leave logs out. Avoid grizzlyman19 if you want a fair game.

Surely breaking and then logging out is fairer than breaking and just leaving the room... there are all sorts of reasons for logging out..like computer crashes, you have to run and catch the bus, your dinner is on fire...It's the people that break and then go and sit in the members bar that you have to watch out for, surely!

er.....no. my statement was quite clear about how grizzlyman19 was cheating. As i said its exactly the same. If ppl are not intelligent enough/too naive to see that, after i described what happened, then i have no respect for them. Sorry
