Confirmation that Vidal is staying at Juve, all those United rumours about a deal being on the brink were a load of rubbish. Why move from champions of Italy with guaranteed CL football to a step down of a team who finished 7th and have started poorly #WasNeverGonnaHappen. Realistically, uniteds only hope of some proper silverware is the FA Cup, can't trust your kids for it either.

A nice group for Arsenal and Liverpool, tough for City and rather easy or Chelsea. Looking forward to some great European nights!

going to united is never a step down, one bad season doesnt make us a step down, yeah it may seem like it because of last season and the start of this season but it really isn't

We were stalling with the transfer ourselves, not to say we weren't interested and probably still are though. His knee problems have been the stumbling block along with his managers indecisiveness.

I still think we will sign someone for that position and disappointing wont be Vidal but am sure will still be as good if not better. Rome wasn't built in a day or in Liverpools case 1 transfer window.

They still have a lot to prove and just hope they for Brendan's sake dont flop as quickly as they believe their incline to be.

Moving to a club not in the CL is a step down, no matter the reputation - take a look at the Milan teams, AC in particular (and they are a more successful team than United).

A championship winning side who are guaranteed to compete for trophies with CL football virtually guaranteed every season, or a side who are currently the weakest of 7 sides fighting for a CL place and went out of a domestic cup at the first hurdle. It's a no brainer.

You were stalling because your transfer policy has been awful, everyone knows your interested but you wouldn't come up with a figure that tempted Juve and the player had no reason to want to join save for a bit more money (and at the stage of his career he is at, trophies beat money). If you'd have gone in early for him, you'd have been a lot more likely and for a lot less than you'd need to pay.

If you aren't getting interest from a player of Vidal's calibre (who is one of the best in his position), what hopes do you have of getting someone better or as good this late on. You need to look for players who are being pushed out of their position like Di Maria, not the stars of the team.

Well that incline would be a season and a half, so we should still get another year then . Our signings have proved better than United's so far. One eligible to play and for all his talent he is an unproven quantity in the prem just as much as any of our new arrivals.

I love how much you hate utd and clearly have no respect for what they have achieved, they have had one bad season (if you compare the last 20) and everyone jumps on the bandwagon about how they will fail, manchester is a big enough club and will build and have success once again. People must be deluded if they think it will be in a year or two! Hasn't it taken Liverpool years to be even classed as a top 4 team?

Enjoy the ride chaps all great things come to an end at some point.

I have been going to old Trafford before you were born so have also seen it much worse than finishing 7th

lol AC Milan are a more successful team than united wow, AC milan finished 8th in serie A last season, inter 5th.

and as for juve yeah they might be in the CL, but do they have a chance of winning it... not really, plus who do juve have for competition in serie A? they won the league by 17 points last season with roma second, much competition there.

but thats your opinion i respect it, im not saying that vidal to united would have been a step up for him, but i cant see how it would be a step down at all.

I do have a great respect for it, no mean feat at all. What I don't have respect for is that United fans thinking that they now have a right to the top 4, and an arrogance that you can do what other clubs can't. That your reputation is greater even than regular CL football. The season before last you were champions of a poor, poor premier league which was proven by the Champions League failure of English clubs that season. How most fans expected Moyes to be the next Fergie with no proven record at the top and now the same is expected of LVG, though he does have a good record of winning (though there are some negatives with him that didn't really come with Fergie.

United's failure started with Fergie, they changed their transfer policy with Van Persie to cover over the cracks and never recruited well enough for the future. They let two legends go at once when it was a risk to just let one go.

I didn't jump on the bandwagon, I said right from the start Moyes was a bad choice and that summer needed big changes fast and they are still going too slow.

That's my point though, the Milan teams have fallen way short and worse of than United. AC are the second most successful team in European football behind Real Madrid.

And again, my point exactly. They will get constant CL football, even if United make top 4 this season they aren't guaranteed it next season because of the competition for those places.

Juve have a good team, they'll at least be participating and you can't win it if you aren't in it. A move to United doesn't put Vidal any closer. Maybe in a years time, if United make clear progress then he'll join. But right now they are in limbo, and until LVG is clear on his squad and tactics, it is a potentially bad career move going to United.

United will sort things out sooner or later, they'll be 6-10 in the table at Christmas but should recover to Europa league spot by end of season. I don't see any hope of CL but next season should be aiming for top 3 for sure

Lol im an Inter fan and i hate to admit it, but surely AC Milan are a more succesful team than United.
I disagree with Zak though saying that Milan and Inter cant get good players cause they dont play in Champions League. The only problem they have is that they dont have enough money to spend at the moment. Apart from Juventus, no Serie A club owns the stadium they play in, so that means that they dont collect all the gains that comes from ticket selling.

Man Utd, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, Chelsea - Are all in a different league to Liverpool. Liverpool qualify for the CL after 1 decent season and think they are the best new prospect for all quality players.

Man United failed to qualify for CL after one transitional season, will more than likely impact this one too, but yet can still sign Di Maria. The same player who a alot of pundits have claimed were Real Madrids BEST player for them last season. United are suffering at present due to losing a hell of a lot of experience and quality but give LVG time and he will reverse their fortunes.

Liverpool on the other hand have signed some decent quality but nothing and no one who will scare their opposition when looking at team selections on paper.

United will sign some quality, already looks like LVGs strengthening the youth team with the like of fighting for Odegaard, signing Timothy Mofu, Oscar Borg etc. Quincy Promes will be in next.

That's called building for the longevity of his reign, Quality unfortunately costs a lot of money especially when interest from the most commercialized TEAM in the world, of course they will be expected to cough up more. That £59m easily made bk through shirt sales, commercialization, sponsors etc.

Hopefully Blind, Lucas Silva, N.De. Jong, Hinterreger, and i know we are in for another striker (Locadia poss) . All players leaving also will be replaced.

GREAT TIMES AHEAD FOR UNITED!!!!

Don't know how many times but I've not said (not has anyone else) that Liverpool have the best prospect for players. Don't confuse me saying United could be a risk for players with Liverpool being the best, we need another season like last to get there. United overpaid, and paid more in wages than Madrid were, Di Maria was pushed out because of new signings so was bound to leave and he wanted to go to PSG but they weren't willing to pay with their FFP problems. He wasn't lures to United, if they hadn't spent big reinforcing his position he would've stayed.

Those teams are awful examples because they are all over the place, last season City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal were in a differen league to United who didn't finish lower because Southampton and Newcastle players went missing for the second half of the season. Even with Di Maria you haven't reinforced well where you actually need. Injuries and ineligibility, th onl defensive signing you've made any different to ours is Shaw who is high maintenance.
