A possibility for next season as a trial...
Super League - Unlimited subs. The aim of SL games is purely to beat the direct opponents over the course of five individual matches. That means so called tactical subs are a fully legitimate means to an end. It also makes it easier for clans with two teams to cover inactive players and get matches played.
FBL - No subs. Each Captain to take responsibility for fielding a team list with active players in their preferred game types. Players have an uninterrupted two weeks to get a game played with one opponent with both making concessions as necessary to find a suitable time. Any increased defaults are easier to score on the basis of it being limited to options from 0-0 to 2-0. This will also reward active clans and active and keen players.
FCL - Limited subs (the final details still to be decided). Something along the lines of three per clan per fixture with no changes until Wednesday of the second week. Swaps to class as one sub.
Just depends if people are prepared to give all of these a go for one season?
Otherwise let the discussion commence again for something else.

Hard enough asking on here for an answer I think il check the end of my tea cup for a correct assumption
I usually find 10-15 pints of beer answers most questions
I can run the league myself when I've swallowed that much! Hey maybe I will start tonight

Sounds good chris, the only one I don't agree with is the length of time for the subs to be permitted in the FCL - in order to encourage matches surely the whole 2nd week should be permitted.
7 days no subs -
7 days allowed subs but limited as you've stated.
The other 2 SL (unlimited), FBL (none permitted) - maybe 1 for inactivity reasons only, seems a fair way to go and also sets aside each leagues separate identity.

How about adding that once a player is subbed out, they are ineligible?
And only 1 person per opponent?

It's not fair on a player who is say subbed out as they can't make their arranged match, take the email validation issue just recently, why should they be punished for a site issue?
I think anyone subbed out maybe are only eligible within the same fixture for the next 48 hours only could be an option?
1 person per opponent, LOL - that's aimed at us adding a player who just happened to be more active than the one they've been put alongside. There's no issue with it, it encourages matches to get played and also gives their opponents more licence to get their fixture played or arranged.

Not just your team, seen it a couple of times, it should be 1 player, 1 opponent.
I suppose if you do sub a player out though, you would then have to use another sub to sub them back in, so therefore using 2/3 of the permitted subs?

Yeah thats the maths i use, so a waste of two subs that could be used elsewhere.
Up to Captains to make that choice though

Maybe but you can get hacked by email, i got hacked years ago on Hotmail and had to change then noticed Google Drive (Documents at the time) and had no problems since.
But players do need to think 'why' the players are doing this rather than posting (Subs part mostly).

I think this is a great idea, but in FBL you could look at derik_dalton idea that you put your evening players into one group day players into another etc as this will help alleviate defaults

I'm happy with all 3, but I think you should include unlimited subs/swaps in all 3 IF both captains/vice captains agree!

I think you forget no one on here is anyone's keeper.
He deactivated for his own reason, never in a month of Sundays did he anticipate he wouldn't be able to return straight away the following day when cooled down. So who are you to say when someone can and cannot deactivate?
Your player were kept 'in the loop' about our players issue and it were genuine as he were not the only player affected
Accidents happen, attitudes fluctuate, people react differently, called life!

This might hinder progress with certain captains though, if all follow the same rules, then no-one can get an advantage..

It would only hurt the obstructive captains, which is a good thing right?
It would suck if in a fixture where no subs was allowed, someone in your clan broke an arm or something and you couldn't even try to do something about it!

Maybe the runner could allow it in certain circumstances but as Seb keeps telling me on Snooker, "If you allow it for one team, then you must allow it for all teams"
