A win's a win but the game was very dull and boring in my eyes, especially the first half. No atmosphere whatsoever. How Lambert didn't score is beyond me, fair play to Sunderland for winning without their strongest side
We'll guys you got it wrong again
1-0. Flattered them,, one chance Lambert missed
We should've easily been 3-0 up game done
1/4 finals of the FA cup as we'll
If we can stay up which I'm sure we can what a great season

M'Villa will be available for around 12-15m in the summer... well worth it.
Might be a good shout ^ though he would be more than £20 million. Last CM we got who played well for Dortmund was Sahin who didn't seem too interested in playing for us.
Forgot to mention Texeira's debut last night. He didn't really get much to do but he looked comfortable on the ball and like he could really develop into something. So we might not need another winger. Though we didn't really see him much, he didn't look panicked and deserves more game time if he's doing well in training

I really like M'Vila, watched him play a lot while he was with Stade Rennais and he fits the holding centre mid role so well.
Started looking for Suarez replacements yet?

M'Vila would be good for that amount, not too sure of cke watches us play though . Gerrard is still quality and the pass he played in the Fulgam match for Sturridge's goal was as good a pass as he ever has played. The fact that he plays a similar role to Zannetti who is over 40 shows he still has years left when he can supply a ball as good as that with the outside of his boot just after slipping and being under pressure.
We don't have wing backs either, they are still full backs. Not as attacking as a wing back and more about getting balls in and supporting the wingers. Our main wingers at the moment are Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez (the latter two interchanging winger/striker roles) so of course we use them. Moses is our sub winger with his burst of pace, Rogers wants another who'll be a threat with his pace like Salah. Also means that we could play Suarez and Sturridge independently to rest them during a busy schedule. The wingers our a devastating point of counter attack for us so to say they are unimportant is ludicrous. We need a ball winner more so than a playmaker in midfield.
As for a replacement, we would've got Diego Costa had Suarez gone last summer and he has been fantastic. I have faith we could replace Suarez with 2-3 players who can grow to be top quality.

2 good passes doesnt say hes been brilliant all season a lot of games hes been dire but thats my opinion
also why would we wnat another holding midfielder weve already got 2 in henderson and gerrard surely we dont want any more we need other positions more

gerrard isnt a ball winner however sitting in front of the back 4 spraying balls around he is class and will play another 3 or 4 seasons
BUT close gerrard down, and you will stop liverpool playing
i can see both points here a younger gerrard is maybe required as the older he gets the injuries will take longer to heal
and he is prone to injury
watch Arsenal today get at gerrard

Good and bad points about today, should've got an early goal again but missed our chances and they grew into the game from that. Was a great match and a draw would've been a fair result. They were much better than last week.
Think football fans eerie here have been robbed of a brilliant replay by Webb though. He had a poor game, so inconsistent with the yellows and he was desperate to avoid giving a red card it was ridiculous. The game could've had about 4-5 penalties and the most obvious one wasn't given when he was in a brilliant position to award it. How all 22 players stayed on the pitch was ridiculous as well. Arteta, Podolski, Sanogo, Flamini, Monreal, Gerrard all avoided yellow cards which they should've got. Sterling could've got a straight red for the incident with the ref but that is at the discretion of ref. He seemed to favour them more though in terms of lenience giving their players a few chances before bookings whereas not all of ours got it. Poor reffing on the whole.
Also saw Andy Gray back commentating and I have not missed him. Watches a different match at times

But he didn't just play 2 good passes, he tracks back when we need cover, pressurises players, great vision and ability to supply using that vision, is a threat going forward and is a brilliant lead-by-example captain and when you have ayers with the workfare he has when we need an injection they are invaluable

Henderson is not a holding midfieder...
Lucas is
Allen is
Gerrard can be adapted to be
But as we have seen over the last few weeks play Hendo there and he isn't as influential.
Don't wanna comment on Webb after todays game he is a joke... how he is our top ref is unbelievable.

yeh he is a joke but we had enough chances to put game away and we wouldnt be going on a bout the ref rogers why the hell he changed a winnig team amazed me why rest mignolet hes a keeper for god sake and where playing one of top teams in prem for the pen if suarez owuldnt of gone down like a sack of spuds we might of got pen understand a few referee decisions but if theres over 10 a season a ref should have to explain himself why decisions wernt given and surely time has come to put video replays in refs arent good enough anymore

Brad Jones had a good game today done nothing wrong, they had 2 tap ins basically. Sturridge could have bagged a couple early on but I would rather he had a bad day today than in a crucial league game.
You sure you are not a United or Everton fan mate?
You never have a good thing to say about Liverpool.

Jones was our keeper for the FA Cup, played in net for us in both the previous rounds so I don't see what the fuss was about him playing today. He did do well overall. Henderson came on too defensively and his strength is his ability to go forward. Allen I was suprised at how attacking he played today and he did play well (probably because he knows he isn't a first XI and wants to get back into it)
Would rather have the 3 points in the league than have won the cup game, the league should be our aim not the cups because that's how we'll grow and attract the players we need

I am not being funny cke1982, but how are you a liverpool fan?? The point has already been raised, but liverpool have been immense so far this season.
Fair enough, we have had some bad games, but overall any fan will see the improvement we have made and be happy about that.
But you seem negative about everything this season, even the most loyal servant we have, Gerrard. Fair enough, he is not attacking as much any more, but why does he need to? Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge up front, leave Gerrard and Hendo to sit back with Hendo being the runner from midifeld if we need to.
But anyways, what I am getting at cke, is that you really need to start supporting your team and getting behind the ideas and philosophy that Rogers is implementing, if you cant be happy when we are doing so well, when exactly are you happy? lol

Compare the team Rogers inherited to the one he has now, if they could play a head-to-head then the current team would win every time hands down. From a team who struggles to challenge for even a Europa league place to one who look likely to get a champions league place. That is improvement.
Silverware doesn't just magically come from one season, it has to be earned through a team growing and improving over maybe a couple of seasons. Cup Silverware doesn't mean a good team, teams have won the FA Cup and League Cup without being the best. Wigan won it last season and they got relegated, If they could swap that cup win with 4th place in the prem then they would snap your hand off to take it.
He played squad rotation seeing as we have a gruelling match a few days before. Plus he's done that previously in the cup, we were robbed of a chance to get a draw/win by some bad decisions and we never looked like the second best team. The cups are not our priority, the league has and champions league. Those two competitions are the pinnacle of our ambitions. Would rather challenge for them than the FA Cup or League Cup.

theres £1.7 million difference between going out in the 5th round and winning the FA Cup, the difference between 7th in the league and 4th will be at least £2.3 million so it is financially better for us in terms of prize money. How many players will be attracted to the team who wins the FA Cup versus the one that gets 4th. Champions League is what the top players want to play and without that we won't keep ahold of players or attract them. Suarez is supposed to have a release clause for no champs league and we can't afford to let him go like that.
If we can keep 4th place, we'll attract players and be more likely to get 4th or higher next season as well as challenge for the FA Cup and League Cup. If we got 5th but won the FA Cup then we wouldn't attract the best players, could lose some and end up weaker next season.
Would you rather win a trophy now and sacrifice our long-term prospects or not win now but set ourselves up in the long-term to be able to not only challenge for the domestic cups but also the league and europe?
