lol James, in snooker you have less games and have subs and you still have a far higher incidence of defaults than Pool.

true but back then we had less game modes but a higher rate of defaults (about 5-8 per set). We aren't doing too bad now though

Is there actually any need for a change? Seems to be the same few people relentless calling for changes when I reckon 99% of clan players really don't give a damn and are more than happy with the way things are.

Could it be an idea to leave things the way they are for at least another season? If the goal posts are moved every off-season people lose sight of where they stand and the integrity of the leagues just get damaged.

If as you say 99% of players don't give a damn, then why would they care if a change was brought in?

There was a suggestion about playing everyone twice. So why not allow the home team to match up the fixtures. The away team could provide their players and their preferred times. If the home team then chooses to match up players who are 12 hours out in times and that game doesn't get played, they are aware that it could go against them in default. And the other team has the same match up choice in reverse game.

Thank you, someone actually read it! Seems everyone else just skimmed over it.

i'm with pirate here, in my opinion don't fix what isn't broken as the leagues get a bit boring with significant changes each season. The league is fine as it is rather than keep changing the format.

be like snooks where you stick to one set of game modes unless change is needed which in this case it isn't

Hand me a cold flannel, I've been burned

Sometimes a bit of change is good, and is more of an effort to prevent defaults but also trying to even up certain fixtures.

The captain will have to think about when the oppo is online and try to match it suitably etc.

I have read it .... chose to ignore most of it as it seems pointless mate, Why fix something that clearly isn't broken ?

I am not trying to change the FBL, just merely how the teams are picked.
Would give the 'smaller' teams a chance to pit their best player against a certain players (admittedly, this formula would work better in the FCL).

Then the team that submitted their team list first would not have to change their list at all, (they have to make sure that they have picked 8 players that will be online) and then it is down to the home captain to make sure that one of their players will be able to play.

Then there is no secrecy of tactics, as its all out in the open.

But as usual, we will stick to the same old, same old, because it's easier than trying to implement something different

Same every season, why fix it blah blah blah. No one has said it's broken all they are considering at this present time is some possible alterations which could spruce up the league itself and maybe generate more interest.

The nucleus and foundations to the leagues won't systematically change as they are proven to work, slight modifications with scoring, subs, swaps. No harm in trialling but will be a waste of time due to the negativity and no one's open mind.

Change is good and does not necessarily have to happen when something's deemed to be 'broken'.

Jamie i have no problem with change if i feel it benefits the leagues i do not think this would benefit the league, The FCL and the way that is done should be kept as its been the same since god knows when and its always a close season, Surely with the way the FCL splits into two Chris has tried to give the smaller teams something aswell ... i tell you what why don't we just give the smaller teams a 50 frame headstart ?

I think the fact that a number of people are offering up potential solutions shows that they think there is a problem so clearly it is 'broken'. Of course one of those solutions as always would be to keep it the same as it is now. Doesn't mean its not broken, just means there is no better fix available!!

What is obvious is that the main cause, by a mile, of forum arguments for clans is in respect of subs and swaps. And it doesnt just include those that get singled out for abuse on here, it includes pretty much every clan at various points during every season.

If that can be removed then that would have to be a good 'fix', however it was done.

I would never want to change the FCL (except scrapping the stupid bonus points, but thats for Been to argue better ), how do you think it wouldn't be beneficial to defaults?

Obviously as my idea I can see the positives, but if someone can point out the negatives, then please explain them to me, and I shall try to explain why maybe you could be wrong, or I will hold my hands up and go back to my (rather large by now) drawing board.

I am only trying to offer something a bit different to try and ease out defaults.

I have an open mind, but i can imagine jose mourinho calling up arsene wenger saturday morning saying " listen arsene im only gona play three at the back this week but im packing the midfield"

Sorry but it aint going to happen .. i put in my teamsheet on the pretence that everyone puts it in blind and we get some cracking fixtures come out if this is changed then you are taking away so many factors, The thing is im arguing about this knowing you could match up any one of your players with my players and i know we would still stand a chance .. i just really do not think it is a good idea.

I dont like the idea of playing each team twice. That makes the season way too longer and most clans cant keep all their players active for so long. Superleague should last at least another 2 months considering there are the play offs which tbh makes me lose interest in that league. The duration of FBL was perfect, we need to implement it to the other two leagues aswell.

i dont see how you picking players to play opposition players cancels out defaults? It just doesn't it just means you put your best players against other best players and hope the game gets done.

i think the fcl is fine and the way it splits into two leagues is perfect as you do now know which way the fcl will go until the last fixture which is great.

However matty, neither is having players in a fixture for two weeks and making no real effort to get the game played and then on the last day requesting any of your team to play any available opponent. That is perfectly within the rules but its not what was originally intended either.

A number of people offering up "solutions" is just what happens in any society. People are always going to have differing opinions, it's why we have a representative democracy and side with the majority.

When I said 99% of people don't care, what I was meaning is that people don't care about changing what we have and are perfectly happy with the way it is.

You guys can go on all you want but you are merely spouting assertions. The fact of the matter is that 99% of players never express an opinion - This is probably because most are apathetic about getting involved but could also be because they are the content with the way things are. How are you going to know unless you put things to a proper vote instead of changing things every season based on the assertions of the same few people?

And with respect to subs/swaps - I don't think you are ever going to fix the problem. I don't think there is an inherent problem with the system, just a clash of personalities and a "problem with the community". I'd bet that with any system you'd still have the same "arguments" and in my opinion the competition is richer for them.

Take for example football - Has anyone ever watched a manager's press conference?

I think the issue here is that Chris (and others) are approaching the situation purely from a moderators point of view instead of a players.

I agree about the two games making the season too long if we start as usual with 9 or 10 clans. With 7 that would be slightly different.

As for SL, the Play-Offs will be 4 weeks max or less if games get completed quicker.
