01:16 Mon 30 Dec 13 (GMT) [Link] Like I said, it depends on how you want the league to be decided. Either you want the team that wins all its fixtures to win, or you want the team with the most frames won to win the league. I'm fine with either.
Choose one! Either make it points like in football or remove the win bonus. This barely halfway system is unsatisfying for either side.
Once you're past 60 points in a match there is no point in playing the other games.
Say Pros beat SS and Uprising in the first set do we just stop the league?

It's nothing to do with choose one, 10 points gives you an advantage from winning the fixture but not an OTT one

No a crap league would be another league like the FBL which could for the second season running have a team who has lost winning the league while another team is unbeaten and doesn't win. Thus why it needs to be 20 to give FCL a better chance of that not happening. We do not want FCL becoming a farce like the FBL. The win bonus could be 50 points all it does is put a gap in between fixture wins. The amount of the win bonus is irrelevant. Change to points for winning and do away with win bonus altogether. Why is everyone so concerned about the need to get 100 points and to whoop people as opposed to getting 61 points and they worrying about your next game.
2 points for a win? obviously that would make a crap league!

The majority has always said 10 points for a bonus or none but horse just posts his lots of times and wins lol

I say the runners should decide how they want to have the league decided- fixture wins or frame wins and then structure it accordingly.
A nice side effect would be that we don't have to listen to the same old argument between beenjammin and horse that comes up every 5 weeks....

Winning Bonus Points are good but 20 is way too generous also could implement a 'fighting bonus', some extra points split 50-50 for having a close encounter?
Would:
1. Make EVERY frame worthwhile.
2. Show true fighting spirit
3. Give the losing side that little more incentive to achieve something else.
Just an idea.

Maybe one day someone will notice that it is only you who thinks that way and posts the same post over and over again.

If anyone plays in pool / snooker leagues in the real world normally you get a point for winning your individual fixture. So in fcl format if 5 out of 8 players won their games and other 3 lost. The score would be 5 - 3 and you would then get 2 points for the overall league for winning the match. For a 4-4 it would be a point each. Again this would be a far fairer format and does away with the overriding desire to beat people 15-0 and means defaults are far easier to do and have very little impact on the overall league.

I just want a format that is fair, which the FBL is clearly shown is not. I don't want FCL to go down the same road as it has always been the best league on here and don't want it turning into another joke like the FBL. I am not sure why people are so obsessed with the need to beat people by as many points as possible. Why do they not want a format that the best collective team win as that is what a team event should be in a league format. I would prefer no bonus points but a team who wins all their games wins the league as this is what any league competition should be.

^ I've always wondered why something like this has never cropped up before. I would be in favour of this format. Don't need to change the match format, just scoring.

Yes and makes everything easier and does away with bonus points and the best team wins. Not sure why so many want a format where whooping people is better.

Makes it more of a team game too

I didn't say I was in favor of the match points system.
Just saying we should have a clear idea of what's more important: fixture wins or frame wins.

01:49 Mon 30 Dec 13 (GMT) [Link] There are of course a few downsides as well...
- If there are only 2 teams competing (as in the past), then the league boils down to 1 fixture.
- A fluky 61-59 (decided by a Golden Break in the final frame to make a point) can decide the league.
And of course conceptually, some will argue that the total frames won collectively by a team over a season are a better way to decide which team was better.
Both fixture wins and frame wins have downsides, there's no way around it.

If you win a fixture 61-59 by whatever means you still deserve to win in current format. But in that 61-59 it could be 3-5 in games so the individual team players who has won the most games lost the match. Thus by breaking it down as per above you make it more straight forward and more of a team event as each individual game carries the same impact on the overall league.

For the most part, both of those points stand in the current format though Seb
02:16 Mon 30 Dec 13 (GMT) [Link] Disagree.
With a 10 or 20 point bonus, a 61-59 is not necessarily league-deciding. With almost 1000 points total in a season, you can still catch up. Similarly, if you were to count by frames won, a Golden Break to make it 61-59 will not be vital in the end.
