I used to play competitive i do know the difference between the tables. Then again this is Funkypool not Reallifepool. The middle pockets in the UK table do need to be sucked in a little though.
Although i did play mini golf on my old pool table years ago! Much easier on the real table!

We have us8 and 9 normal and arcade so why not have uk normal and arcade, the present table would have to be the arcade table tho.

I should really point out that the separate 8UK table was not my idea. Sorry for the duplication, krazyash_07.

The current table would have to be the normal one, the UK we have is quite arcadey in play - a pro UK table would make more sense (I think that's what you're saying anyway)
I would personally prefer having the old pro tables back instead of having the arcade tables, but that's just me.

i dont think the table needs completely changing although knuckles on the pockets would make the table better, looks stupid without knuckles and 8UK is my fave game, rolling a ball down the cushion is daft and knuckles would put an end to that shot !!!

Why not introduce Old school and New Era, with the new 8us and 9us tables, introducing a new 8uk table, and then have all the old tables, with just the graphical upgrades, That way, those that want realism can go for New Era and those who love smashin' their balls into gaping holes can go Old school

Agreed although i don't know what "Pro" is, if its anything like Original Snooker im all for it

I agree its the most popular because it the easiest the same with arc over on snooker, and no the us tables are not completely realistic but anyone that plays uk in real life knows that the uk table on this site makes a mockery of what a lot of us can do in real life. The game is not as easy as these tables make it.
I don't think its the easiest at all tbh, the pockets are so big and the balls are so big, makes it alot harder to get position, and if you do happen to hit the wrong ball its game over...
The tables are hardly realistic at all lol...if the UK table was to change to how the US tables are the site would die a miserable death, it always has and always will be the most popular game on the site!

True especially if your on a runout, all it takes is a flick or a cannon to lose position.
In US you can choose your colour when you pot from break so i would say runouts should be easier on that table. In UK your stuck with the colour you potted and numerous times it would take extraordinary positioning to make the runout.

To be fair, I would rather the rules were sorted out first. They aren't even consistent with themselves, let alone any type of actual rules

they are very old rules people played years ago!

the old rules and the table is what makes it stand out from the other game types.
leave it as it is bubs
uk arcade ridiculous idea. ppl complain enough about the arcade types now, why fuel the fire by adding another
just my take on things bubs

Its the rules, intricacies, tactics and skills required that make it stand out from the other game types in a positive way. Its the design of the table that makes it stand out in a negative way.
If the UK game had always been on a more realistic looking table then I am pretty sure no one would ever have been petitioning for it to be on a table with sticking out middle and corner pockets - in the same way as no one petitions for US8 or 9 Ball to be played on such a table!!
Would be nice to see UK trialled on a realistic table alongside the current version to see which was more popular or even decide up front to run both versions.

it was the first game nick put on here i believe, if he wanted to change it he would have already me thinks.
plus half the peeps posting on here don't even play uk regularly. just the usual serial change campaigners. if it gets changed they will want it changing back. same old story,
bubs

I don't particularly play it regularly because, although I like the game itself, I don't like the table.
I doubt I am the only person with that view.
I actually said to run the two side by side - if over time people stop playing one of the tables then phase it out at that stage - but at least give that choice in the first place.
Edit - Just to add that I don't think it should be on a US table either. It should be on a table specific to the UK 8 game but on a more realistic looking table with more realistic attributes - eg when I have played I have found that American pool table pockets are far more forgiving than UK pool table pockets. That would need reflecting.

ok i agree with that but can you imagine the uproar if nick changed to pockets to say arcade pockets on snooker. they are more or less the way uk pockets should be i think bubs

Yep I don't necessarily think it should be a snooker table either as again their pockets are different to that of a UK pool table - especially if you're potting into either of the middle ones. And to have a snooker table on the pool site would be just plain wrong!!
I don't see why it shouldn't be a little more difficult to pot than it currently is though. I am sure Nick could come up with a very realistic set up - but again, not at the immediate expense of the current table.
