How is this in the official rules?
tbh don't know anything about the 'official rules' but i think playin a foul shot on purpose can give that player an advantage.......just a thot
nick........I've asked about this before, but just wonderin if it would be possible to put a player back in after a foul in straight?

I think that if someone gets a random shot then it automatically gives you white ball in hand or something if it is able to be implemented.
Main reason for this is person you play randoms and it hits their ball and in some cases pots their ball for them and then they get to carry on... little unfair especially since i remember not to long ago i was watching a final in 8US and it was at 2 - 2, one guy got a random shot while he only had the black left to win and it actually potted it for him. Other guy basically got beat by the computer...

Craaazy^ im still adjusting to the big pockets!! Since i have been playing with them, my results are SOUR. Imm going to check my win loss ration from the 17th on! Anybody else having issues connecting with the pocket? I seem to cut it short most the time and hit the corner. ;P i'm sure i'll adjust. Was the aim to make it easier? Like for new players?

I don't usually agree with my husband, but he actually makes a fair point here. I think once the timer has ran out on someone then the opposing player should just get the white ball in hand. The random shot (for me at least) is very cruel, the majority of the time it results in them potting or getting a flukey snooker.
I have once seen someone win once from a random shot and that was getting a combo in 9US from it.
If they get a random and it pots they either come back and clear up or you have to sit and wait for another random shot to happen.
Still keeping the same 3 shot rule, but instead of it being a "random shot" make it an "inactive shot" and give the other player the white.

Why disagree with something that has been proven to be unfair...
Sniper the pockets are not bigger they just look like they are, i had the same problem with potting when the change was made but you get used to them after a bit, i still make the odd mistake though like most do

How about the option to have a time extension on 1 shot every frame? Most of the time you come across a tough shot (whether you're snookered or just need more time to think about getting position), and the option to give yourself an extra 10 or 20 seconds to take a shot once in each frame would help that. You get this in shot-timed events in professional pool and snooker. Thought it would help here

i agree with you my point is spinner made it into a big debate the last time as he saw the random "penalty" as a penalty as you did not take the shot yourself.
i think it should be a ball in hand as you do not see the referee smacking the reds.

the random shot penalty has always been the silliest rule on this game, and a ball in hand is much more appropriate than randomly hitting the ball for the player thats fouled...
I mean actually think it through, imagine if that rule was proposed in real pool, or snooker!

Anybody else agree there should be a 3 consecutive foul policy implemented in the 8us game type (billiards)?
Just recently i feel ive got better at it, I position my spots or stripes over the pockets or in front of my opponents ball in order to gain an advantage only for when they have no other ball to pot they tap theres potting mine and claiming the pocket. Once or twice this would be ok but have recently played someone the black ball was over the left bottom pocket, my 2 stripes were in front of it blocking any path so my opponent on no less than 6 times pocket the cue ball directly in too any pocket. Sueely this is unsportsmanship or unsportswomanship and should not be allowed.

Fouling of this kind is actually allowed in real pool I believe so I think that is why its implemented on here

its a good tactic in my view
what i would like is a pass option after a foul as even though usually a ball in hand is an advantage that is not always the case

This is a positive addition to the game.
One very minor query however though. Is there any way that at the break off you can have the ball in hand (the same way you do after a foul) rather than have the ball placed in the centre of the baulk line from which you have to pick it up to move it?
Dragging the cue ball to position is now, finally, added. Please let me know any issues.

I said that to Jay when I saw it, I preferred placing the ball rather than dragging it from the centre.
