Obviously though, Killer would need a cap if the idea was introduced..and if "killerpool.com" was going for a year or however long it was running, then im sure nick would implement it here. (If he thinks it would be fun, something new, and just to spice it up. Or there could possibly be an age limit on that "Bet Rank". Don't think age restriction is necesary though. Can't remember if Killerpool.com had that or not.

I dunno the details, but there was a raft of legislation involved when killerpool was in the early days, and hence (I guess, along with the obvious financial issues) why it never went live.

Lots of good points other than that though, but though I hate to be the one to do it, the elephant in the room hasn;t been mentioned yet : Facebook.

Back when the sites were at their height activity-wise, free online games with forums and chat facilities were rare, and good ones like funkypool/snooker even rarer. They were one of the few really user friendly places you could "hang out" online and chat without needing IRC/MSN etc. and play games against your mates.

Now, all that and more can be done on facebook with almost any game you want.

My suggestion? Maybe its time to be less friendly to the casual player. Offer more to the regular die-hards, more challenges (yes, fewer tourneys) and re-visit the priorities elsewhere aiming more at pool and snooker enthusiats who will still be finding the site.

I think a good idea would be to add more features to premium members.

Premium only tournaments.
Record shot/game feature available only on premium.
Move balls on practice table.
Set's of time trials for example... You must clear x amount of balls in 1:30 and have a leaderboard etc.

However increase the amount people pay for premium from say £9.99 to £14.99 or even £19.99 and the accumulation of the extra £5's that people pay put into advertising on other sites and google, yahoo ask.com and whatever else. I have premium on snooker and should some of the above be brought in would definitely pay the price.

Don't think it would be any harm to have an official twitter page either, I have had alook actually and saw there is one but has only had one post and was in 2007.

I have got to agree with some of the posts on here regarding the use of social websites such as Twitter and Facebook, where there are around 500 million and 1 billion users respectively. The potential market for a game like this is huge but not to mention that it depends on the funds to be made avaliable to Funkypool. Obviously there will an opportunity cost of this, however this is one way of gaining extra members.

Personally i have found Twitter very useful. Within my PS3 clan we are trying to gain a reputation and an image. Through following many people on twitter i have aquired around 650 followers, to all of which i can 'tweet' details of the clan and its website, hence we have seen an increase in traffic from the number of 'unique hits'. This could be a completely free way of gaining members.

It would be quite an interesting fact to know (if there is a way, which im sure there is) from Nick if he has any data stored as to the number of unique and returning hit from the past. This may be able to clearly determine the success of a major change to a website and the fluctuations in traffic

I think one of the main things that needs to be changed though as someone said earlier is the way guests are treated. If people come to sample the site as a guest, see no available games, no one talking, not being able to talk etc then they won't want to return.

Where if they come see more games, have a right to talk, maybe trial a tournament for guests only, or guests and newbies.

Maybe then more people will want to return to what will be perceived as a friendlier site.

Fair one mich, I agree with you on that one. I can remember when i used to come on here as a guest before my first account. I looked on the avaliable games list and there was a whole list of games avaliable. Now there is barely 1 game avaliable. I also think the guest tornament is a very good idea. Maybe it could be an option to include guests in the friendly tournaments at the moment to boost numbers.

Not sure if you saw it on the previous page but I had a idea for that too...

Scrap the tournaments every half hour and make the micro's friendly tournaments which can be entered by guests and newbies (who I think should not be in main tournaments) this would increase popularity among guests and wouldn't fully take newbies out of tournaments so is a win win both ways, and would possibly increase numbers due to happier guests.

it's all very complicated guys........too many tournies i'd agree with, but, i dunno about the rest of ya's but i'd scrap the 'arcade' tournies. i actually think they would be good for newbies initially, as they are that bit easier to play.

micro's i'm not convinced of tho i do play them as i aint got so much time on here. if it came down to tournies, i'd leave the micro's with their rank and make most other tournies friendly, as this would encourage a lot more punkyfoolers to enter, making more people enter, meaning more folks hanging around in chat room etc....

Basically for me, i'm not that fussed about rank. it's nice to get up there, but not essential. as for those who reset all the time or use additional usernames, they'll get caught out and end up starting again and again....can't see the attraction tbh. most regulars on here don't buy the achievements of 'newbie pro's' etc.....

i'll keep doin what i do and try my best to enjoy the funkypool experience as i always have-friends, banter, competition/rivalries and hassling the mods lol

keep er lit!!

Spinner makes a rather good point.

Facebook has not only ruined our youth, my mother's ability to think "Oh I should do something today" and my ability to get off my backside but it has also taken away my beloved funkypool

If anything the thread has been a success, dunno where you get the idea of failure from.

The thread was originally created for someone to have a whinge, and since the first post there have been 75 replies now (including this one) and some attention from administrators, saying how good ideas are and how they think things should be implemented.

Does my nut in that you think because no one has posted for 24 hours or so you think it has all been forgotten... well you are wrong yesterday alone without anyone posting the thread got over 100 views. Has had over 1100 in total, nick has not been on since before the thread was created so not like he could have commented anyway saying "Yes immediate changes will be made, don't worry about the time it takes, I have no life and will bow to your needs."

Give it a rest and give it time people have lives beyond here (scary thought I know), I think we have made our thoughts known and admin have taken note. If nothing has happened in a month or two after nick has had time to read it and decide whether to act upon the changes, then make another inquiry about what will be done to expand the site and make it more fun again.

Don't just give it 24 hours and start moaning again, these changes will take time, and especially if nick hasn't been on to even see the thread.

i could do a schedule (48 hours) but i doubt nick would use it so not much point unless people wanted to see how i would do it.

On another note i would love 5 second tournaments on here, it was successful far as i know.

Never knew that there was official 5 second tournaments in the past (if i understand dgens post) and would be a good crack with them

Think sniper overloaded on the ibuprofen last night (check ninja thread) so he was possibly clouded in his response.

Think they were in as a trial, was never set in stone in the schedule, or so I believe anyway.
