Hmmm, not exactly fair to all clans and players alike when 80% of captains would let a player leave if they wanted to and 20% would force them to stay.
Sure captain's permission wasn't meant to be used that way.

Indeed that is exactly how it is meant to work. In most cases Captains would happily grant permission for a player to move (probably far greater than your 80%). However they had the option of not granting it if it was in their clan's best interest not to.

There's a good reason why rules like this exist in real life team sports.

At the risk of being shooterist again I will use them as an example, they had a full squad of 15 players last season but the same 8 played over 85% of the games.
The rest got a token game here and there and were kept as subs, great for 8 players not so much fun for the other 7 so why should they be stuck in that situation for a season?
Just like when you sign players you don' know what you are getting a lot of the times until they start getting games, players are taking a gamble on joining a clan why should the clan be able to rectify a mistake but the player not?
We're looking at 10 or 11 teams in FCL next season, 2 captains that wouldn't grant permission...80% i'm happy with the maths

Except you are assuming any particular Captain would not release any players no matter what. Not sure that you can say that really.

No chris your wrong.. the league runners can intervene if the player is being unfairly left out or not wanted anymore but not being released..

Im sure this was apart of the new rule.
-----------------------------------------------------

this is just a suggestion to stop the arguing, i agree entirely that the player shouldnt need captains permission for his transfer token.

And thats where you are asking for more arguments and less reliable and viable clans.

But nevermind. (And no it wasnt part of any rule specific to transfers.)

It has become more of a neccessity now because squad sizes have grown and grown. With 16 players you can definitely afford to leave a couple of want-aways stranded and still be well covered in your games.

Thanks for pointing out exactly why the change doesnt affect some clans but will affect others. The players are a different matter. They know (or have the opportunity to find out) the rules before they join a clan.

Try applying it to football and see how unfair it would be. I know it is a completely different scenario however the underlying theory behind it is absolutely identical.

That comment makes no sense to me chris, the clan sizes are 16 for everyone.

But some fill their squads far easier than others. Thats a fact and will never change. Always has been that way and always will be.

You are like me. You want the league to grow bigger. But any change like this actually simply stops growth.

when people suggest that snooker rules shouldn't be implemented here as its a different league its same with football really as most ideas or feedback is connected in some kind of way.

one transfer per season, not bothered if you have captains permission or not, and reward the loyal players in clans.

dgen there is actually nothing you can do to reward loyalty except grant points to a player/clan. And that cannot happen obviously.

lol lee!

question is, where do you set the bar at whats offensive/slating? you can be accused of slander when just putting down an opinion.

realistically there would need to be a complaints procedure similar to funkypool itself, where you can "report" offensive/inappropriate material to league staff who will look and decide on any action to be taken inside the league.

might give keith some work since he a moderator anyway lazy git

Lol who me never

It doesn't make a difference to anyone though except to those that would keep an unhappy player. We needed captain's permission in my first 2 seasons here and lost loads of players to bigger clans.
We had players say they wouldn't be playing clans any more or they didn't have time to get released because they had already agreed to sign for one of the top 2 teams.
Used to stress me out but now you still get disappointed by it but you work hard enough to get players in and you will keep growing as a clan.
If MVP take a player from us(geroff alan grrr! ) then we take a player who is doing well at a 2nd division clan, they go hunting a gem not in clans yet and more players come into the league...sure that's the way it happens in football too.

No it isnt. That is the vital point. The lower team has control over the departure of their player. They will let them go when it suits and when they get what they want out of it, whatever that may be.

They don't have any control over players chris, nobody is paid or under contract and if a player has had their head turned and wants to move there is no good to team or player by keeping them just a power trip for the captain.
Best thing as Ang showed me is to take it on the chin and get working on getting the next signing in and eventually you will build it so you can keep your best players.
We had players like cool_dude and derpatovski when we were in the 2nd division, end of the day we knew they were a higher level than us as we were all in our first clan season so when they left to bigger clans was accepted by us as they were acually too good for us to expect to keep hold of at the time.

We need to start limiting the number of clans and therefore the number of available spaces for players, this may add to loyalty and it also means that there should always be players who want to join clans to keep all clans happy.

Why does it just have to be a power trip? A lot of what you say is based around personalities on here. Rules shouldnt take any of that into account. Whilst they do you will always have issues.

I am not arguing anymore as the decision presumably is made. However lets remember this was voted on before and now its turned against what the 'majority' voted for.

That's not based around any personalities that is based around there quite clearly not being any other benefits to keeping a player who doesn't want to be at the clan for you or the player other than to make you feel better.

The majority of times I would release anyone to anyone. But there may be times I wouldnt. Nothing to do with a power trip.

Sure you would if the transfer was handled properly chris. That's why I suggested that if we are doing away with captain's permission then there should be rules on how the transfer is handled.

-the player/signing captain informing the captain via offline message not on the threads and the player not attempting to disrupt the clan they are leaving with parting shots on the way out.

Failure to behave that way would mean the player could be taken off the teamsheet but not transfer or play for anyone else that season.

Would hopefully lead to less aggrevation and disruption to the clan losing the player, pretty sure if players behaved like that then captain's permission would be granted 95% of the time anyway.

But there can be other reasons for wanting to keep a player or even restrict them to not joining a certain clan.

You might want a replacement first
You might not want them to join a direct rival

Loads of other reasons too.
