You see a team that wins all their matches as unbeaten, because you see matches as games, and frames as points within.
I see frames as games, noone goes unbeaten.

But players do not go into a fixture thinking they have 15 individual single games to play here. Its a package. They go in primarily aiming to beat their opponent by scoring more than them overall.

Can't you agree though, that in any match, the more games played, the more accurate the outcome?(in other words, the smaller the chance that the best player won't win)

Yes I can agree that the better player ordinarily beats their opponent over a longer game. But you already have the longer length game in the FCL and lesser extent FBL so therefore you want competitive matches where people of equal standard compete against each other in those type of games to find a winner. You dont want them even potentially to avoid such games in the search for greater points.

There are far more frames being won and lost than there are fixtures to work with. So how can you deny that counting frames is more accurate?

In a season of 11 teams there are 10 fixtures each of 8 individual games. That is 8 games to work with to decide each fixture and 10 fixtures to work with to decide the overall table. That should be plenty.

Again, the points system is rendered obsolete anyway, if you're gonna have a knockout round at the end of the season.
Turns it into a cup match

I agree that with the possibility of lesser teams allowing maybe two games against opponent per season then play-offs probably would not be needed.

Where they definitely do have benefit is in frame scoring competitions which have been distorted from a few default scores - for example the FCL of two seasons back.

Plus what Keith says - and thats me done

In response to keith's post:
This is only comparable though, if u see matches as games the way you do.
My opinion is that frames are not points, they're each a game of their own, and each one should be counted.

Question: Does football ensure that every team plays every other team equally (the same # of times)? If not, going by points wouldn't be an option.
On funkypool you can ensure that everyone has to play everyone equally. So the more accurate option becomes possible.

Chris,
My dissappointment with the fcl got me confused, forgot that you're counting gametype wins (a new 3rd option), not overall fixtures.
So unlike counting only fixture wins, seems this can't be decided by one fixture. (my main problem is the possiblity of the whole season being decided by one fixture, it's no better than a cup match) You're giving it more numbers to work with.
I still don't think it's as accurate as frames alone (frames would leave even less results uncounted), but much better than the problem I had in mind.
I guess this way IS a compromise

As long as you use the points accumulated throughout the season, instead of having a knockout round at the end.

I think if a team gets within so many points of another team they should be given a bonus point if eg my team was 10 points down then fixtures over but if u have a chance of getting a point u wold have something to play for

Chris, the games do sound like alot, I think it may be easier just playing each other once.
As I don't want too many fixtures tbh.

Its no more than last season. That was 10 League Fixtures, a Cup competition and the Play-Offs. A minimum of 11 games for each clan and a maximum of 16 games.

This would be 12 League Games with no Cup competition and because it would be two games against each clan then no Play-Off.

Playing each clan once gives a season of 6 games lasting 6 weeks.

Fair enough but the same player is suppose to play 2 games in one fixture? so hypothetically a player could play 24 games not including killer.

A player can play twice in one fixture ie a Killer game and a non-Killer game (9 racks - 3 each of 8, 9 & UK) or can play once in one fixture ie either in a Killer or a non-Killer game.

Or of course doesnt have to play at all

Not sure if that explanation makes sense!!

Example fixture

The Professionals vs Snooker Squad

Killer

horse10000/scott7a vs jose_enrique/dgeneratio
mattywellie/cphaynes vs sarny_lad/lethal_lures
fuunky/onevisit vs crazy_greg/deitch

each Killer match is 2 games

Non-Killer

horse10000 vs deitch
scott7a vs sarny_lad

beenjammin vs whocares8x8
dvz vs lethal_lures

onevisit vs _redherring_
mooney vs cphaynes

In this example some of the Killer pairs have stayed together for the non-Killer games whilst others havent.

Each non-Killer game is 9 racks - 3 each of 8, 9 & UK. The scores of each pair are added together to give a pairs result over 6 frames for each game type.

It can do - or it can wait till next weekend. Either fits the schedule plan if there's a strong preference either way.

Basically non killer part is TCL rule based with out the bonus points for any events. Killer is explained easy enough, play the two guys on other team twice, think i got it

I meant the getting extra points for winning individual events, well if both team members win extra points.

There are no 'extra' points. Frame scores dont count.
