Super League III Grand Final

Final Score:

The Sinners 13 - 18 Snooker Squad

Congratulations to the Snooker Squad for retaining the Super League crown again and also well done to The Sinners for a good final and a great season where they won The Arcade Challenge Cup.

This marks the suspension of Super League for the time being however at some point it WILL be back for Super League IV.

Thanks to every person that has taken part in three seasons and thanks to JoJo for running it with me.

Hopefully The Clan League will be as successful when it kicks off at Midnight tonight!!

For what its worth I think there are some big decisions to be made by clans and their members over what they want in terms of competitions, formats, runners etc in the next couple of months. Everyone has their own favourite league(s) but unfortunately there arent enough players and time to do them all in the way that they have been organised up to now.

Creative discussions on the way forward are always welcome!!

For anyone interested - the history of the Super League can be found here..

The next season will be Super League IV

It will be a format somewhere between that of previous Super League seasons and The Clan League.

If anyone has any particular ideas on what they would love to see brought to clans in terms of game or competition formats feel free to post. All ideas welcome and this is a chance to try and bring anything fresh and interesting in.

There will be no Cup competition but there will be a Super League Killer League open to entries/multiple entries per clan - format to be decided.

The Players Championship will return for installment five and may even be made open to any non clan playing members that wish to take part.

No ideas on starting dates as yet.

I have had a chance to read discussions elsewhere now and my aim is to try and bring in as much of a team based format as possible (within the site limitations) compared to other 'individual' based clan events.

Proposed match format is to have ...

1) Three 2 vs 2 Killer matches (each match is two games which would be played back to back as far as possible)

Two points for a win and one point for a draw in each of the three matches.

2) Three pairs matches in the game types of 8 Ball, 9 Ball and 8UK.

In each match a player will play a total of nine racks against a player from the opposition (3 racks each of 8, 9 and UK). Their partner will then play the same format against the opposing teams partner and scores for each game type will be added together.

A win in a game type earns 2 points and a draw earns 1 point.

Players can play in both Killer and non-Killer games meaning a minimum of 6 active players should allow the game to be fully completed. (I would prefer it to be 4 Killer games and 8 non-Killer games but for the time being will trial it with the lower amount).

Example fixture

Team A v Team B

Killer

Player A1 & A2 beat Player B1 & B2
Player A1 & A2 beat Player B1 & B2
Player A1 & A2 2-0 Player B1 & B2

and the same for the remaining 2 Killer games

Non-Killer

Player A1 (2-1 8Ball, 3-0 9 Ball & 2-1 8UK) Player B1
Player A2 (2-1 8Ball, 1-2 9 Ball & 1-2 8UK) Player B2
Player A1 & A2 (4-2 8Ball, 4-2 9 Ball & 3-3 8UK) Player B1 & B2
Player A1 & A2 5-1 Player B1 & B2

and the same for the remaining 2 Non-Killer games.

Total points available in each fixture is 24 which is 6 points from the Killer games and 18 points from the remaining games.

The aim is simply to beat your opponents in each fixture. 2 Points for a fixture win and one for a draw for the purposes of the league table.

Play-Offs to decide the ultimate winners in end of season head to head shoot-outs

Subs are unlimited but cannot be made once a game has commenced.

Tactics will come into it as you can pair players up to compensate for their game strengths. Plus for example if a player lost a game type 3-0 then you might sub in a player who is excellent in that game type to try and level it up.

Sounds complicated but isn't!!

sounds interesting chris

For the Killer, you can't use Destiny for example in all 3 matches? if so i think thats the best way.

No you would only be able to play one Killer game and one non-Killer game.

Sounds like something new, but would be an administrative nightmare for you- you mentioned about TCL already being tough to keep up with.

No its fairly straightforward. Only requires actual scores to be recorded as there are no bonus points.

I was going to enter my clan in for TCL or Super League (which I really liked BTW) this season but I am afraid having to learn yet another format is just putting me off, so we won't be entering, good luck though

OK. Presumably that goes for the FBL too as last I read there was going to be individual win bonuses which a) is a change of format to learn and b) something you hated in TCL

Nice and straightforward this one - no bonuses at all.

Well a) I am just swapping overall win bonus for individual game bonuses, not much change and b) I hated the quantity of bonus points available for TCL - Runout, GB, completion + win/draw points all on top of the frames you earn't.

You are talking about an entirely different format altogether, Killer and paired games?

This was not mean't to be my league vs yours, I am just stating that I don't like the format. I really wish you'd see sense and bring back original SL because it was fandabbydozey

Trying to provide something completely different from everything there has been before where it is just a set of individual game results added together to produce a winner (TCL & SL included).

This has team play from the killer games and also allows for tactical pairings and/or subs of players to focus on particular strengths or weaknesses in the non-Killer games.

Might fail spectacularly but no harm in trying rather than being boring.

Have you decided on a format yet, possibly more frames?

I liked the format of the TCL, just about enough frames for a proper match.

Wasn't a big fan of the Super League tho, i hope u don't shorten down the frames per match.

Any ideas on bonus points etc..

I thought the opposite haha ^

I liked the uniqueness and shortness of the super league, but wasn't a fan of TCL. Too many bonus points and they didn't really do what they were intended for.
