a suspension for a season on 2nd offence, a ban means from leagues altogether which i only do under extreme circumstances (like the issue last season for instance)

About time you all realized how awesome snooker is...
It's very tough if not impossible to know why a player leaves a game. It could be due to stropping or because his internet went out. In that case, you don't even get to tell your opponent that you'll have to go.
It is an online game, so you can't control it the way you could Man Utd leaving at halftime. Leaving just because you're playing poorly is bad sportsmanship, but it's impossible to control. Only an admission from the player is proof and that is unlikely to happen...

If you are not going to try and control it in any way then it becomes acceptable as a legitimate tactic. That's fine as long as everyone is made aware that they can do it at any time if they want.

Hey, if anyone comes up with a way to control it without punishing those who leave for legitimate reasons, I'm all for it.
Until then, all we can do is put it in the rules (without being able to enforce it) or tell people that it's wrong in the hopes that they will feel guilt-tripped into not doing it, which is how it's been handled so far.

As i said previously if your opponent is on your friends list you will see in the chat box a "dodah" has logged out this is a deliberate log out and can be classed as unsportmanship....conection failing etc are then classed as network problems and a emergency at home could be a simple quick message "sorry need to continue later" .

So if I just pressed the power button in the middle of a game, it would go through all the "connection failing" stuff before logging me out?
Anyway, if I was stropping because I'm losing, I could just say "sorry, will continue another time". I would say the same thing if I had a legitimate reason. I don't see a way to differentiate.

Yeah now that some "tricks" that have been used are public i agree it's hard to govern these but most are done in the heat of the moment so its either a impulse reaction or as you are saying calculated ending..Once again impossible to regulate. (also didn't know that hitting the power did that)

You can change the setting of what your laptop does when you press the power button. I was just wondering what happens if I just shut the thing down on the spot.

If you just shut it down there and then your opponent would get the *unnamed is not responding* you would then log out of the game server after a minute or so i think it is.
If you just log out the game server by clicking the red cross you log out straight away, in the case of eemad and his opponent he must have clicked the cross as he logged straight out after leaving the game (i had him added, reason i know) there was no responding messages or anything.
Same goes if you shut your laptop over, after a while it will logged you out either due to your laptop being set to log you off your user account you use on it, or because you have been in active for the 20 or so minutes what ever it is.

When they also deactivate its obvious whats happened lol

Sure. But the majority of complaints comes from players that just leave and then continue another day. There's no way to control that.
19:17 Fri 18 Nov 11 (GMT) [Link] Oh that's why alan brought it up now

Unfortunately no way to control this unless the player does deactivate.
The vast majority of players just wouldn't do it anyway but the only other thing possibly you could do is keep a record of anybody that leaves a game when it hasn't been agreed beforehand all the games might not be played and people who do it regularly get a warning then further punishment.

bonuses will be handed out to teams not at fault and which is the only game left.
it will be under staff choice to make it fair.
ill make a note of those who leave games frequently and those with 10-5 lost defaults or more.
any other issues?
