as i stated before micro's are a waste of time and that's that.

if the points were reversed where ranked games were double points do u really think people would enter micros? a main tourny maybe just for the +1 stat on the profile but the micro's would be as good as dead...

To say people prefer tournys to ranked games is a very strong statement which you can't back up considernig hardly anyone enter's tournys now adays. I've been a member on this site for 7 years and have seen almost everything change.

The rankings aren't why you enter tournaments, you want the tourney win, double points are a bonus but a major double edged sword.

micro's arent even proper tournaments and are good for people to play a few double points games, hence why there is less to win at the end.

Therefore you've just admitted that micro's are pointless as there is no purpose in them other then the "bonus"

Shoot... i i dont think any game should be cut off here. The variety is great for anybody that wants a break from the main types.

And micro tournys are fun in my opinion theyre quick and u win alot of points and rank, bang bang boogie

You still get tournapoints for the win, they are still a good bridge for players who can't win full tourneys yet and they are also a good alternative when there is an hourly tourney you have no interest in.

Why did you give the scenario of reversing the points so you get double in ranked and normal in tourneys?
Because you know if you got double points for both everyone would still play micros and tourneys over ranked.
Tourneys are obviously more popular than ranked games, even from your own posts on this thread you admit that.

for the low ranks you win alot... everything on this site seems to be implemented for the lower ranks. EG double points so they have a chance of hitting 750....

once u get to around 840/850 it's pretty pointless aiming for 900 now with only tournys being the main place to go WHICH you get absolutly slaughtered on, i win 2.2 in some games and then lose 4.5 i lose 1 frame and i'm already worse then when i started....

You said yourself only people enter tournys for the tourny win that's it you never once mentioned anything to do with tournapoints.

I reversed it to show that no matter where the double points are that's where the crowed will follow - why do you think nick started to focus on tournys and boom they ended up doubled - to lure more in which has failed as far less enter them then usual.

You've been on this site for how long? i dont think you realise 20 people in a tourny is only a 1/4 of what it used to be before so many chances came into place. & once again only reason they are popular is due to points and almost being forced into them at higher ranks. Myself and many others can hold 800 easily but to play just ranked games we would gain .9 a time not worth the 3minutes to win a game....

Why do you keep prattling on about how long you have been on here like it has any influence on the debate?
I've been on here for 7 months and for about 5 of those months the tournaments were hourly and the numbers haven't dropped much from those times at all, i've seen UK tourneys still getting 50 people at peak times now plus the micros are full and plus the numbers in the half past the hour tourneys being decent.
We give you ways of boosting numbers without taking away peoples choices and you aren't interested.
Don't know what your point is about rank, I could hold 800 easily too I just play tourneys instead of playing 0.9 games what's that got to do with anything we're talking about?

The benefit of constant Micro Tournaments over Ranked games is that there can be no accusation of anyone 'controlling' who or what type of player they play.

Change normal ranked games to automatic pairing and then the ranking points available can be the same as they are for tournaments.

Chris wont happen, tournys are meant to be forefront however much of a good idea that is and im sure others would agree dont think nick will do that as it compromises what he wanted to do.

No it actually creates the same level playing field for all. People will still enter tournaments for the satisfaction of winning one. If you're knocked out of one you can then either play the Micro (if they stay) or ranked games. The Micro and the Ranked then carry the same risk and rewards.

The reason the focus/priority switched to Tournaments was for the very reason of avoiding the constant accusations of players reaching the top of ranking tables through selecting their opposition.

The point is ego you can't win with you...
Sorting out the tournapoints will make the best players play full tournaments over micros, make them prestigious again.
Letting newbies in would boost the numbers even more without taking away the variety we have now.

We would have great, full up, ultra competitive tournaments round the clock. If people's priorities are rank rather than tourney wins they'll play ranked as you have pointed out yourself it's much safer.

they dont contain the same rewards though until the ranking system is then re-changed once again Which really needs to be done along with the highscores reset and started over. 32/50 in UK8 reached 900 (i believe from memory about few months back a chceked) they're now rated up there in top 10 yet haven't even played in this situation.

And yes im aware that was one of the main reasons but still doesn't stop it from happening it just has made it harder

You don't change the ranking system, just the ability to choose ranked opponents. As I said, all games can then be weighted the same. Job done.

still very much doubt if the points wern't = to micro points then would still keep a low amount of people playing ranked that's the thing - the way the games moving isn't the way that it needs to be at first it was fine and has now turned into one of those things where too much has been added and making it less appealing.

They would be equal as per my post of 16:20 above.

Either all games would be equal or, if still preferred, the main tournaments could continue to be weighted higher (but I would have said no more than at 1.25:1 tops)

do middle of the night tornys(uk time) carry double rank even though only a few enter? Seems ideal way to boost your rank and tournapoints without trying if thats your thing. How about stopping those tornys altogether?
