hmm everyones been asking for doubles for years and negative comments will only make it a distant memory rather than trying to get nick to put it on the game, maybe not yet but maybe 6 months-1 years time.

Think getting high up the search engine list is the best way to get people in and through the social networking sites but how about players actually unlocking the game types as they go?
Meaning 20 games of arcade to unlock UK then 20 games of UK to unlock 9 ball then 8 ball then killer then straight.
Reckon people would keep playing the different types just to see what the next unlock was and plus it would drive the score resetters craaaaaazy

In terms of attracting people, exactly. The other thing to market more would be the chat room and social element of the site. A place to come and meet people where having made friends you can then play games, tournaments etc.
If you put 'online pool' into Google this site is the first hit but if you put 'online pool chat room', or variations of that, I think it comes up halfway down the second page. I doubt most searchers ever look beyond the first page of Google unless they are looking for something specific.
Of course if more emphasis is placed on the chat room and social side of the site it might need a slight rethink on the way it operates and is run.
* Apologies - think this is drifting slightly off the 8 ball arcade topic now

Relating to chris' post about searching on google. I tried searching 'free online pool game' and I could only find Funkypool half way down the second page. Maybe it's worth 'free' in the meta tags or whatever is used for google's search engines?

I wouldn't mind betting that the same thing happens at this time every year - post World Snooker Championship. We need a Pool equivalent.

I would take that bet
Funkysnooker is more popular than pool, it often has double the amount of users online than that of pool

I meant the current number of users - it's not always getting on for 500.

Several months now snooker has constantly had way more users online than pool. That's just a fact.

think its been that way for 6 months - 1 year, back in the day i believe pool had more users than snooker, by 100 i think.

Yesterday was the busiest day for a couple of months so I'm hoping this is a result of the new game.
The site structure is already optimized well for that - but it's not something that can be cheated. Having a simple and fun game that works on any monitor will help here though as well, it will appeal to more and attract more links. The new game would also run well as a facebook app - but I'm hesitant to add it as an app at this moment.
Yep snooker is certainly top dog now! Which is why pool needs to copy the snooker model. (And yes, Chris, you're correct numbers jump 20% or so during snooker tournaments, it peaked at 524 and would have probably got higher but some unnecessary server limit was maxed.)
I wish I did this earlier - but I was expecting that US 8 ball pool would overtake UK 8 ball pool for usage - yet UK pool still has a higher usage. It wasn't till I heard some people say they play 8 ball UK because the balls on 8 ball US are too small that it became obvious, looking at the snooker model and usage patterns confirms it.

Normal :) But yeah, nice idea, I'd like to know what the other players use.
