Yeah,seems very harsh.Also this update only seems to benefit good players who have the oppurtunity to enter many tournies a day.I don't want to sound like I'm moaning but if you play 8 to 10 hours a day your going to win the points,but that doesn't make you the best player,just someone with way too much time on their hands.

the site was brilliant untill yesterday ! now i feel theres a few things letting it down i hope somethings change about tournies else i wont be staying on this site

To me it's clear where the split is, those capable of playing well and getting on on a regular basis are all for this, they may have the most to lose, but they are able to gain a lot from it. Those who are a lot more erratic with their ability to pot or get on, seem to be the ones who are against it more. I, personally, would like to hear the opinions of those who are already of a lower ranked (rather than the same pro's/virt's having their say as has seemed to be the case). Could it be worth having an announcement asking people to post their opinions on this thread?

I still think splitting it, adding more choice as to playing ranked or unranked tournaments is the best way forward-either alternating, or having one of each running alongside each other. With respect to tournaPoints, the ranked tournament could have double (or an extra half as double's a tad extreme) the amount available than the friendly, making it more enticing for people to play-more to win, but there is the increased risk element of rank.

Rather than everyone just saying 'the idea's crap, change it back' or threatening to boycott the site, could we start either getting ideas in to improve the concept, or other forms of constructive criticism?

There is more to life than ranking points on a game, what is the worst that can happen if you lose points lol just win them back. I personally like the idea makes tournies more fun. Nice update nick :)

normal ranked games are ruined why should i get less points when winning players with higher rank than if i won a game in torny how can it be more of a true reflextion of a persons rank if they dont play tornys and have to win twice as many games for the same score/rank

you didnt have to change the points system at the least make it the same if you win in ranked or torny

why dont you run ranked and friendly tornys side by side give people a chose

When I have the time I will add a page to detail this. You can look at results given particular days (the top 3), weeks (the top 10) or months (the top 30).

I have to agree Jayy. That's what it's all about and it has certainly brought something vibrant to the (pool) table.

It certainly has and I'm sure when everyone has a day when they win tournys they will like it aswell

Further to that, if the semis finished regularly but the final finished DQ-DQ, the finalists would get their usual 20% for reaching the final and the beaten semi-finalists would get 5% each. I haven't any evidence of this yet as it hasn't happened I don't think; however there was a 4-player(!) tournament earlier this morning, and all 4 of the players got the 4 points for finishing in the semi-finals. (Looks as though all 4 of them were not logged in at draw time, whatever that was about...!)

There has been a regular announcement with a link to this thread since the update went live.

I really don't see the point of giving tournaments such an importance when affording points in addition to wins and tournapoints.
Besides the horror of losing to flukes (for what 9ball is so famous around funkypool community) you don't have enough games with the same opponent when skill and experience may overcome flukes effect.
Another factor is time and location: not everybody can allocate a minimum an hour to be attached to funkypool and when u are not on the same continent you have only few players of rank available in the narrow time slot ( others are all in the tourneys ) so we have much less opportunities to play since this "Big Update"
But if you want to play just couple of games here and there, the points are almost useless and you may loose more points to daily deductions then you may gain with serious opponent.
I think that points allocation should remain as before plus maybe special bonuses to winners ( 1st and 2nd place).

You make a very good point alxima - high ranked players lose one point every night in each format instead of 1 or 0.8 or 0.5 as it used to be and to win them back in ranked non tourny games they have to now double their wins.....not every has time to do a tourny.....I do but many on here don't

what i don't get is, you moaned to make ALL tournaments ranked and once all tournaments got made ranked you don't like it :S
