No that would be silly why give all points to the winner when the games could have been close but the better player obv wins yet the should we say rising player gets nothing from losing 2-1. It's not about making the winner feel safe it's about it not being as harsh. You would just love that because you wouldnt lose any rank after a frame so you could get to 960 againnnnnnnn.

Winner takes all in each round is the right approach - if u get fluked in 9b but win 2-1 you done ok. If you lose to good play then they done ok.
I guess in a way that is a compliment kirk....ty

this concept has been discussed in many threads before, and it simply does not work due to the boundary system of the current rankings.

and bonus rank for tournie winner instead of tourniepoints - say 4pts winner - 2 pts loser - 1 pt losing semi finalist

Take it how you like it lol everyone else knows what i mean
No this isnt about rewarding just the winner its about the ranks not being as harsh or bringing it down to a even playing field.

Wow al your even complaining about the ranks when you have won! You need to get out more and stop taking a game so seriously
16:37 Wed 1 Dec 10 (GMT) [Link]
Yeah and you are complaining about it like you always do....

I actually believe that had this been introduced from a starting position where everyone had been reset, then after the initial outcry over that had died down then the system would have shown how it worked properly from the off.
Unfortunately it has started from the opening position created by a previously slightly flawed system, as Nick himself has admitted, and until those flaws now work themselves out over time they will cloud peoples views which are based on how things were before.
I seem to remember a similar thing happened on Snooker a year or two ago and on that occasion stats were reset and I doubt anybody now would look back on that change to the ranking system as a mistake?
Not that I am advocating a reset now at all.

The main pts looking back through the discussion is many players feel hard done by losing rank after beating their opponent convincingly. In snooker or pool world rankings you don't gain ranking points if you lose 5-1, or 3-1 or 2-1, yet on many occasions here after a convincing win players are losing rank. I do not see this a complaint in any way - just merely discussion.... I do think a good number of players will see merit in this idea

Well im a good player and i think giving points all to the winner is daft and unfair especially if 1/10 games it is a tough game. The only problem is the points being given and lost or not even given it's more that people lose a heap. Maybe like in the newbies phase a player below pro aka adept cant impact on your rank to much? He can still win the same amount of points but the pro doesnt lose so much?

I am not sure if this has been brought up and I don't feel like reading through 18 pages to find out, but could the tournapoints be the same amount for all tournaments? I realize that not all tournaments draw huge crowds throughout the day but those are the only ones I am available to play, and I would have to win them all to even stand the chance of matching the points won during the day. Otherwise tournapoints are only fun for peak time users.

There are 20 tournapoints per entry so if there is 10 entries then there will be 200 points up for grabs
