06:01 Mon 14 Jun 10 (BST) [Link] the fact is, when England are playing against these so called "weaker" teams a goalkeeping howler shouldnt make any difference......
if the German keeper had a howler last night it would have in no way altered the outcome of the match.....
this is the reason England will not go far in this tournament - their forwards just arent firing.....
against teams like the USA, Algeria and Slovenia, England should be averaging between 3/4 goals per match.....
easy to blame the goalie - but I personally blame the strikers and midfield for not putting the ball in the back of the net
Only my humble opinion though

slovenia 1-0 algeria
algeria seemed the better team but both looked poor
Keepers howler makes Green's just that little bit more barable
algeria got one suspended for our match i think

I do agree with you the strikers and midfield should have done more
Only Gerrard seemed to have a good game, man of the match for me
Heskey had a very good game as well but he cant finish well
Rooney was just too quiet for a player that good
Lampard had a pretty poor game
Wright-Phillips was another disappointment
I would've liked to see Joe Cole on the pitch
Defence overall had a solid game, they didnt have any really threatening shots, should never have gone in, would've still been a comfortable 1-0 win
USA are the hardest of the 3 group games we've got, so 2 big wins are coming up hopefully

The defence apart from Carragher who got burnt by Altidore and we were lucky to get away with that.
But as a song by The Hours starts: It's Not How You Start, It's How You Finish.
In terms of Germany v Australia being the best match, in my opinion a good match needs both teams going for it, but that said, there hasn't really been a decent game in the tournament so far. But in my opinion, the referee made a poor decision to send off Tim Cahill.
But 1 thing I will say, the referees have so far been generally good with some good decisions like the penalty to Ghana yesterday, definate handball but didn't see it at first, top call.
Now for Holland v Denmark, should be a good game, probably have several shocking refereeing decisions now.

i honestly think the best game has been the opener - end to end stuff for the last 20 mins with wither team being able to win it

Carra made up for it though with a few good tackles

i think those horns, vuvuzelas or whatever they are called are actually taking the atmosphere away from the world cup
you cant actually hear the chants from opposing fans

I agree. I prefer it when the fans are singing and chanting. I also quite like hearing the English and Dutch brass bands playing. That is true atmosphere.
The Vuvuzelas are just an irritating noise

I could still hear "Rule Britannia" and "God Save The Queen" during the England game.
But think about the vuvuzelas, it's what's going to make this World Cup different to other World Cup, it's South Africa's unique input. Shame it doesn't drown out the noise of Andy Townsend.

I have a major dislike for the vuvuzelas, and there's been rumours of them being banned. However, banning them would be wrong - it's like the South Africans coming to Europe and telling us to not sing, chant or clap. Doesn't hide the fact I think it ruins the atmosphere though, no change in sound when there is a goal, corner or anything else.
Glad with the way the Germans started, I have a fiver on them in a four way bet (my mates have gone Brazil, Spain and England). Can't deny I'm worried that they'll ease through the groups and get knocked out next round though.
Also, I'm happy with the Netherlands and Japan victories, first two correct results in the Predictor I'm doing

We wouldnt want the vuvuzelas spoiling the enjoyment of sweary English chanting would we. Because everyone at the WC prefers hearing our fans giving it a load of foul mouthed abuse instead of some celebration horns. Right?
Everyone moaned about the Brazilian samba and the Dutch bands when they started but now they are part of it all.

Breaking news: Green returned to England training yesterday, had 300 shots fired at him and didn't let in a single goal. Today, however, he and Emile Heskey will join the rest of the squad for a full session.

North Korea have been defending really well so far. Think everyone was expecting Brazil to ease past them, but they just can't find a way through!
I, for one, didn't expect 0-0 at half time
