I watched the France - Uruguay match yesterday. Surprisingly, my boss is a soccer fan, so she allowed us to put the game on the big screen TV (at a bank! Lol =/) I didn't agree with the red card - yeah, he missed the ball, but it didn't really look that deliberate to me. Oh well. It was an okay match, not very exciting. I thought both teams made lots of stupid mistakes.

USA vs. England is on today! It's either 1:30 or 2:30 here.... I keep getting different answers but be sure that I'll be watching!

It was for a second bookable offence and if truth be told, the second challenge was a booking. The first one was harsh though, he only threw the ball towards where it was meant to be.

Interesting chat on another forum, they believe USA will fail to get out the group stages because they will underestimate Slovenia

I will indeed warney, I have a great great great grandad from Algeria

Anyway, well done Robert Green should always have been Joe Hart in goals, suitable punishment for Capello failing to realize that.

Wonder if Robert "butter-fingers" Green will be picked to play against Algeria

I think anyone who slanders into Rob Green should be shot. Because you probably never played in goal and you probably never made a mistake in your lives. Gerrard and Lampard give the ball away, but because they are midfielders, they got people to bail them out. Keepers do NOT have that luxury.

Besides, if you think that is a bad result for us, it's the first game, what was the score in the first game in the 1966 World Cup, oh a 0-0 draw with Uruguay.

The media has only mentioned that fact about 20 times since the game ended

I'm not slandering Green (if anything I'm proud of him), I played in goals yesterday for my school and I play fives every Friday. I know that WC ball is hellish in the air, there was one incident yesterday where the ball suddenly changed direction, I only just got a hand to it when I was going for the hold, and fortunately the opposing striker fired a poor shot I just got my foot to.

Every 'keeper has a bad game though. I know that the 'keeper has all the pressure on him. However, surely Joe Hart should have started? Green and James are prone to making a lot of errors as it is.

Joe Hart is deemed inexperience. But I would rate him higher than Green and James based on last season.

Green's error was on the ground, a school-boy error, but pressure of the occasion and everything.

I have let in terrible goals, then it feels worse when your team attack attack attack but fail to score.

Because 1. You can't make amends because your team are throwing the kitchen sink at them

And 2. Had you not made the mistake, you would have won the game

Green is a good keeper yeah, but Hart should have been starting in my eyes

Made cracking 1 on 1 saves a few games ago, deserved the place, who cares about inexperience?

Gerrard had a good game

Lampard was crap - wasted chances
Heskey did well but cant finish
Rooney should've done more really

And what was Wright-Phillips doing on the pitch?

England were the better team, should've won

Easily going further than USA who might be lucky to make it out of the groups on that performance

The first round is a group stage. So if the scores are level at the end of the allotted time then it's a draw.

When it goes into the last 16 (the knock-out stages) then if the scores are level at the end of the game then they play 2 halves of extra time and if they're still level after that it goes into a penalty shoot out

slovenia 1-0 algeria

algeria seemed the better team but both looked poor

Keepers howler makes Green's just that little bit more barable

algeria got one suspended for our match i think
