Following on from the recent surge in threads being made regarding cheating, we have developed and automated cheating detection system to ensure members are not cheated out of ranking points.
Current proposals are that users will have their stats reset automatically if :
* They win or lose more than 7 consecutive games in any discipline.
* They gain or lose more that 50 rank points in a 24 hour period.
* Play more than 5 ranked games against close friends or relations.
* Regularly lose to friends or relations if drawn against them in tournaments.
Clearly these resets would have to occur without warning, to avoid the possibility of people abusing the system and stopping winning or losing after the 6th game.
Assuming there are no objections or major changes required, we shall impliment at midnight GMT on Tuesday.

"Spoiler" for others whom did not intend on cheating due to more strict rules and less leniency. Note to self: Thoroughly read rules again if impemented to prevent..

I'm not convinced about the second point, what's wrong about gaining 50 points in 24 hours?! Particularly in something like 9 ball, and for low rankers/not so genuine newbies?
Other than that, I'm all for catching out cheaters, even if this is a bit drastic.
Edit: And on further reflection, I think winning 7 ranked games in a row against an opponent is perfectly legitimate, if it's done legitimately. I think that's very harsh. I'm also all for playing a variety of opponents to increase rank and what not, as I always have done, but I think that particular aspect of the proposal should be re-thought, and perhaps increase the figure to 10.

I don't often play ranked games any more, but if I did, and won 7 consecutive games (due to good play, and no cheating) would my stats be reset?

yea i don't think this is right
there are many people who play who can easily win 7 consecutive games.. also with the luck in 9 ball it isn't hard to gain 50 points either

Great idea - but 6th of April would have been a better day though - you could have then linked it in to the start of the new financial year.

I like the idea, but I cannot see this working.
1. Anyone is capable of winning 7 games in a row, skill level regardless.
2. Gaining, or losing 50 ranked points within 24 hours is totally possible for most users, and to be reset for losing games is a bit harsh for the majority of users who play fairly.
(This has happened to me losing 50+ 9 Ball points in a few hours let alone a day!)
Would there be a warning when you got to say, 40 points in a 24 hour period?
3. Playing ranked games against friends or relations is a part of the game a lot of people enjoy.
How would this be monitored? Via the friends list?
If so, the people that are 'cheating' will just delete that friend before playing.
4. Tournaments. I don't play many ranked, but I do like tournaments.
I lose regularly to certain people on my friends list in various disciplines. Their just better than me at that game type. I never let anyone win, but I could be reset for having a few bad days?
Like I said at the start, I like the idea that resolutions are being proposed to eliminate, or at least sternly discourage cheating. But it appears that the majority are losing out.
Don't take the 'fun' out of funkypool!

I dont like it to be honest.
How will the system know whether you lose to friends in the tournament regulary.
I whoop niall every single tournament doesnt mean were cheating.
I think 7 consecutive games is silly make it at least 15. Unless its only if your playing the same person.
I think you would have to be open to lots of users arguing their ban.

What has brung this on? A sudden increase in cheating? Was it broke before the system of vigilence?
Punishing people for playing their close friends is ridiculous surely?
