well im not overly confident, but i am quietly confident we will win the game. But i think rangers wont try and attack much and i dont think celtic will be all guns blazing either as its a game that no one can lose, and that will be playing on the minds of both managers.

celtic will need to be weary about rangers counter attack and cut out the balls to jelavic. anything can happen in an old firm game so i really dont know what score to predict but ill give it a go.

my prediction is 3-1 celtic.....hopefully i stuck a coupon on it lol.

and for st.mirren v hibs
i predict 1-1 also yoda

Sir, the greatest, Walter Smith has finally hit out at celtic. It had been coming for a while, i think he was looking for the right thing to say.

"Rangers manager Walter Smith believes Celtic deliberately stoke claims of bias against them, and that their record of winning trophies suggests they are wrong to think they are treated unfairly.
But Celtic boss Neil Lennon denies that the club is trying to generate suspicions of bias against his club."

Neil Lennon has revealed that the glut of games against Rangers has left him suffering from Old Firm fatigue.

This season's three cup derbies added to the four league meetings between Celtic and Rangers will break the post-war record for Old Firm matches.

"It's probably too many but that's just the way fixtures have thrown it up,The supporters might not think it -they might like it every week but, for the managers, four would be plenty." Said Lennon.

The 2-2 draw in the recent Scottish Cup fifth-round tie forced a replay and the Glasgow rivals will also meet in the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

When I read about Neil Lennon trying deny that he'd ever said anything about people being bias against Celtic, one comment instantly sprung to mind.

"It seems to be every week...",

which Lennon said in the wake of the Hamilton game.

yeh it seems to be every week that we get an important decision against us.
that is what he said, not that anyone was being bias.

i think what walter smith said is badly timed for rangers and it surprises me.
This will instantly fire up celtic and neil lennon has yet another excuse to fire up the players. I think it shows walter smith is feeling a bit under pressure at the moment and has used the pre match mind games poorly.

The Old Firm once again trying to have Scottish football THEIR way here...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9402530.stm

They're trying to delay the start of the season, just so they can play their glamour tie friendlies.

Allowing this would completely ruin everything, from the SPL to the SFL, and from the League Cup to the ALBA Challenge Cup too, due to start dates of both competitions.

The SPL should just tell them to shut up, and if the old firm still want to play their friendlies, give a 3-0 forfeit win to the opposing side that weekend. If St Mirren and Hamilton Accies asked for a later start date to a play a friendly, they would be told to "get tae", and rightly so.

I can't help but feel the SPL will bend over backwards and give the old firm exactly what they want. And if they do, it's a total bloody disgrace. If you're a member of this league, you should follow THEIR rules, and THEIR choices. You shouldn't just ask for specific favours, knowing fine well if anyone else in the country asked for it, they would be told "no".

Completely agree. There is plenty of time inbetween seasons to play friendlies, so I don't see the need for them to be arranged for a time that would clash with the start of the new season. It will no doubt hurt the smaller clubs very bad financially, as many of them don't pay their players during the close season. Seems to be now that the Old Firm hold all the aces and not the SPL/SFA.

totally agree yoda

at no point should the season be extended or the start delayed for the benefit of one team or even two

rules are rules and if we are going to change them we might as well throw the rule book out the window and make them up as we go along on a weekly basis

It seems most people are in agreement that this is shocking...

http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/141035-old-firm-glamour-friendlies-may-veto-early-spl-start/

The link above is where I first found out about this. Basically just a Scottish football forum where fans of all clubs can post on. And most who've posted on that thread aren't happy about this.

how can they change the start of the season for a few friendlies??? that would be outrageous and a non starter for me. The thing about it is the money men at the old firm will do anything for a bit of extra cash and completely disregard any other club. Its called greed.

Rangers were out played in all areas of the park today, Diouf got a yellow card for nothing in my eyes, watch replay celtic player clearly shoulder barges Diouf then comes back and makes a big deal out of it but Diouf gets a card aswell was shocking to say the least whittaker was just on a rampage.

Celtic better team on the day and deserved the win.

Neil Lennon again tactically outplayed Walter Smith. Very very professional performance and i think we didnt even step out of second gear. Jelavic done nothing. David Weir looks about 50 hes really aged alot recently i couldnt believe how old he looks! A vital victory and i think it now shows that celtic have the better team as well as the individuals.
Cmon Celtic!! hail hail!

Good win for Celtic, well done.

Another big game, another case of wrong tactics. These tactics may well work against the likes of Motherwell, but when it comes to Celtic and European teams we just get ripped apart and it's simply not good enough. Sort it out Walter
