Glad Saints made it through. Great crowd from the Saints, just about filled out the 2,500 terraced capacity, and the first half atmosphere was outstanding, jumping and singing. Dargo took his goals well, but his 2nd half was pretty poor. (First half goals aside, no idea if he played well, could barely see the other end, and atmosphere meant the game wasn't my 100% focus lol). Ayr had a good crowd too but they weren't very loud.
Thing is, at 2-0, we should go on and make it 3 or 4. Instead, we gave away a penalty and only just took the win after looking so comfortable (if Dargo had taken two great chances for the hat-trick, we wouldn't have been on the back foot). Main thing is we are through. Glad to avoid the Old Firm, but Aberdeen at home, with Craig Brown in charge, I can't see past the Dons winning.
Smurfy, Saints were nearly very close to also playing Rangers 7 times last season. We had 3 league games, League Cup final, Scottish Cup + replay (86th minute replay winner from the tubby poacher), only missing out on a top 6/bottom 6 match. I'm sure Celtic will enjoy it more than us
As much as I hate to say it, that was an absolute screamer of a goal by Jamie Ness. Made Scott Brown's excellent strike look like a tap in.
Did anyone see Brechin's goal vs Buckie Thistle? Some strike by David McKenna, ex-St Mirren youth

well fantastic match between celtic and rangers and i think a draw was just about the fair result. jamie ness goal was quality and couldnt believe brown scored! with his left 2!
also i think were quick enough to criticise referees when they have a bad game and we should be quick enough to praise them when they have a good game. The ref was spot on in every decision and deserves full credit for the handling of the game and making the right calls at the right time, well done Callum Murray.
back to the game and i thought celtic played really well with ten men and thought we stretched rangers most of the time and to have 67 per cent possesion while rangers had 11 was brilliant and i thought maybe we should of nicked it. A great advert for the scottish game and any1 who said it was boring will now think again, that was the sort of game the old firm is all about and a good reason to acknowledge what they bring to the scottish game.

Agreed, I thought Callum Murray had a good game too (from the highlights I saw). Definite red card for the Celtic keeper, and Murray did a great job on spotting Naismith's pathetic attempt at a dive and punishing him for it. Totally agree on that praise should be given when merited.

well i have always thought naismith was a bit of a diver, but being scottish i have always given him the benefit of the doubt. twice he dived yesterday and it looks like hes the new mcgeady lol.(the rangers fans always pointed that out).

I'd agree he is a bit of a diver. He goes down easily every time I see him play against St Mirren. Can't say I like him very much.

Ah, the media.
It's the media, media, media and media.
If they see something that people "kind of" want to read about it, they will ring it out till it's bone dry (it was bone dry as of sunday night). It's all to do with selling their paper.

Agreed, two distinctly average teams made into glamour tie by the media.
Now the Aberdeen v Dunfermline game is a different story
On the downside however BBC Scotland caught me wiping my nose on my sleeve when panning to the away section.

I blame Dougie Vipond, I blame him for everything! Ex-deacon blue &%£$. Typical St Mirren fan

Still hurting from the season you went down and we stayed up Col? Just a wee comeback from 2-0 down at Fir Park while your lads chucked a lead up north...
Ah don't worry. You'll be back up soon while Danny Lennon takes up down to the Fizzy Pop leagues.

Glad to see an entertaining St Mirren game for once. Makes a change from the total borefests.
The three goals we conceded were awful. However, Steven Thomson's goal to put us 2-1 up was outstanding. Hit it right into the top corner from outside the box across the goalkeeper, sublime. Both teams went for it and kept trying to score, 3-3 was a nice change from the crap we usually see.

well done beram kayal on player of the month, thoroughly deserved, wins countless challenges and breaks up attacks well, good passer and can hit a ball too hopefully he will keep it up.
also a well done to jamie ness for young player award, it was only a few week ago he was going to the lowest ranked team in scotland clyde on loan, so good to see a young scottish player emerging but hopefully the media wont hype him up too much, and hopefully his team wont do too well either

We beat them in 2008 en route to the final in Manchester, so fingers crossed we can do it again
