That would be great!
It seems many people don't quite understand the actual topic

So does anyone have a problem with this, as a compromise?
1) Auto removal to chat room if you don't join within a time limit of 30 seconds.
2) No auto removal for people in a private game.

have i understood this right ?
my stats are at 725ish , i create a game 700 ~ 900 and someone joins who is 860 knowing full well i have little chance of beating them i have to play them or im booted out of my own game ?

I don't see a problem with that. I you create a 700-900 game, you should welcome playing anyone in that range imo.
And in any case, the worst case scenario is simply having to create a new game. Not the biggest deal in the world for sure.

Surely you have time to create another game or just join an existing game?

i should welcome playing a 860 when im only 725ish , you're having a laugh aren't you , anyway i only asked if i understood it correctly like you say no big deal in the world
12:31 Wed 16 Jul 08 (BST) [Link]
Select 600-800 instead?

would it not work better if the ranges were brought close together like 700 ~ 800 and not have the huge gap in between ?
12:39 Wed 16 Jul 08 (BST) [Link]
Your concern is precisely what the rank limitation feature is there for. If you don't like to play high ranked players, you should do as Nick pointed out - select a lower rank range.

The best solution would be to choose the from- and to- ranges independently and with 50 point increments. That's a bit off topic here tho.

There was a lot of support for the game auto-starting rather than a removal
Removing someone to the chat room won't really improve the situation that much, as the other player is still left waiting.
After all, nobody is in a game room unless they want to play.

People often are in a game room and dont want to play the person who comes in....maybe cos they dislike them.....maybe they feel the risk of playing them rankwise isnt worth it........maybe they are away and didnt close the game window for whatever reason.......i think your wrong on this one spinner. A boot is a compromise i suppose, still defys the point of calling a game after a player though. Maybe the games should be called ukgame12 or whatever instead of madmiketysons game- after all you dont appear to care what the game "owner" thinks about playing certain people.
No matter what you say, people will always be selective about who they play for whatever reason and forcing them to play people they dont want too or booting them out the room seems a little strange to me.....i would however, prefer to be booted to another room than forced to play someone i dont want to

Nobody is forcing anyone to play. If you dont want to play, simply dont enter a game room, or if you are already in, then leave.
If you want to stay logged in, but want the freedom to get up and wander about but don't want to "sit" in chat, you can create a private room.
I'm simply looking at it from the logical point of view, surely the bulk of players in game rooms, and those who enter, do so because they want to play a game.
If there are a few who do things differently, it won't take very long to adjust
Edit - there is also the effect on new players, who may be sitting in a room, not sure what to do, and suddenly find themselves booted back to chat. Surely its more user friedly for all to simply start the game.

That's a very good point.

So has that changed your mind nick ?
I was thinking as you enter a game it shoud say something like if you do not start the game in the next... you will be thrown into the chatroom.
And also it would be really anoying to see ... joins chat
...joins chat
.. joins chat
you wouldnt be able to keep up what people type, you can hardly do that now anyway.

you would only have to play them for one game-then you could leave (during the next 30 second time frame).
personally, I think that it should be auto start. The game creator has set the rank perimiters and then someone who has matched the criteria comes in...why should someone be botherd about playing them when THEY have created the room, and set the criteria.
then if you cant play in 30 seconds, auto start...because to own a game room, you should be willing to start at anytime...otherwise leave.
and then if you lose due to 3 consecutive fouls (on random shots), then move back to the chat room. That would be the punishment-lose some rank points and get booted. while the other guy gets rewarded for playing.
if your going to create a room......

and set your criteria for your opponent, then why shouldnt you play the opponent that comes in.
and you can still leave in that 30 seconds too!
you think my penalty is too harsh...well then play the game!

two options for that.
one: surpress all entry and exit messages (in options)
two: maybe we could have the option to see ALL people coming and going or the ones who are NOT booted from chat rooms.....
but then again, I would rather see the game start automaticly.

Auto start after 30 sec is fine, since you can still leave if you don't like the opponent.
The rank limitations isn't really an argument tho, since people can reset rank. Just because you are willing to play say 700-900 rank players, doesn't mean you are willing to play known resetters, who are more than likely playing at a much lower rank than their skill would suggest.
