but I could haave started another game in 2 minutes...i dont want to be waiting for 2 minutes becasue sometimes im only on for a few minutes before school!
I think that 30 seconds is plenty...
if you cant start in 30 seconds, then why have you created a game?

2 minutes would be best IMO- if you had to do something quickly before a game that allows enough time.... any quicker and people are gonna lose without being at the computer.

Unfortunately it would not solve the problem as the owner may be away causing many people to wait.
if your going to do something go to the chat room it only takes 10 seconds to make another game!
im talking about waiting for a game at night and waiting ages for a 800plus, getting bored, browsing the forum or whatever and getting into a topic like this 1 and forgetting your game window is open. I do that often, so to lose the game for debating on the forum or whatever would be harsh
There will be an audible alert when the player enters the room and during the last 5 seconds of the countdown. The problem we're trying to solve is that a player is idle in the room, unaware the game is ready to start and someone is waiting for you.
Bounced out to the chat room is a definite option (killer worked that way at first).

Or, how about when you make a room, you have a choice wherether to have this on or not?

Im think there should be a boot limit
basically after 30 seconds of not clicking the rack they get booted into a chatroom probably already been suggested but its better than losing ranking points in games.

This is the entire point about this topic: You should not sit in (holding up) a game room if you are not at your computer, ready to play those who join.
If you want to go away for a brief time, go back to the chat rooms and make a new game when back.
A better option for doing what Mike refers to tho would be to allow game owners to toggle their game as invisible/inactive. This would mean no one can join it until you are back an toggles it ready again.
auto-start: Yes please, but as already discussed - longer timeout than for killer.
Another, related topic: Can we please reduce the network timeout somewhat? The current 2(?) minutes is a bit long, especially for killer games, where a lot of people have to wait for a long time whenever someone loses their connection.

It's 2.5 minutes, and yes, it could be reduced.

Can we have the choice of weather or not to have the timer on i mainly play friends on here in a private room so if i have some thing to do between games i would lose. I think its a bit harsh when the person i'm playing don't mind waiting for a few min.

I disagree i think this should stay the same because if it is yourself wo has a power cut or connection failure andyour in a final say you wouldnt be happy when you can easily sort it out within the 2.5 minutes as it is now it should stay as it is

I was thinking about removing this completely for private (invite only) games.

I would have a problem with having it reduced to 1 minute. Frankly, very rarely do you have lag spikes of more than 1 minute and still less than 2.5 so it wont make much difference.
Anyways, this is most of all an issue for killer games, where many players are involved. In short, the need of the many outweighs the need of the few. One player being allowed to time out for as much as 2.5 minutes at the expense of 9 others waiting is quite selfish and nothing I would want if it was ME timing out either. I would on the contrary feel very bad about knowing I hold up the game for that many players for so much time.
