Meh... Here, look at this and see what you think.

In all the World Cup Finals tournaments combined, which team has played the most games against whoever that tournaments winners was? In other words, imagine that a country gets 1 point for playing a game in a World Cup against that World Cup's eventual winners, Which team would have the most points?

You won't get it by Googling, so just guess!

Holland have only played the eventual winners 4 times. The answers are England and the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia with 6:
1958 - Brazil 0-0 England
1962 - Brazil 3-1 England
1970 - Brazil 1-0 England
1986 - Argentina 2-1 England
1990 - West Germany 1-1 England (West Germany win 4-3 on penalties)
2002 - Brazil 2-1 England

I'm not working out the Czechs' one, just because.

By definition, teams on the list are expectedly on the losing side. I think the 1958 game was the only group game there; if England had won any of the other games, then the defeated team would not have won the World Cup and that particular game would not count towards England's total.

Next on the list: Brazil, France, Italy, (West) Germany and Sweden with 5; France's and Germany's 5th game was in the last World Cup. Otherwise, if France had beaten Italy, then Brazil and Italy would have joined England on 6, and the Czechs would only be on 5. I think.

The Netherlands are on 4 with Argentina, Austria, Hungary, Peru, Poland, Spain, Turkey, and Yugoslavia.

3: Uruguay, USA.
2: Mexico, Romania, Russia/USSR
1: Australia, Bolivia, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, East Germany, Ghana, Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Wales.

Once I started, I couldn't finish

Your go, ul_son

Pointless input, but you missed out Belgium

Belgium lost in the 1986 World cup semis to eventual winners Argentina. Belgium also lost to Brazil in the last 16 of WC 2002, when the ref controversially disallowed a goal for the Belgians while the score stood at 0-0.
