Spurs in 1901 is famous, I thought? As is Sutton United's defeat of Coventry City in... was it 1989?

lol - my go so

Another World Cup one. Who's the only (I think) team to play 2 different countries twice in one World Cup? Bonus point: name both countries they played twice.

I.e. name both countries they twice played, not name both countries twice, cos I know one of you smartbums will try it

Is the answer, the SAME World Cup, say Team A played Team B in group and KO, and Team A also played Team C in group and KO of same World Cup?

Not sure how that can happen but oh well

Or is it like Team A played Team B twice in one world cup, then in another world cup, Team A played Team C twice in that world cup?

Ya, the same world Cup. "2 different countries twice in one World Cup" asks the question. So if A vs X happened in the... 1880 World Cup twice, and A vs Y happened in the 1880 World Cup twice as well, then the answer would be A. And for bonus points (whatever that means lol), the other answers would be X and Y.

And I'm changing the question to ask for the year as well.

So: What team played 2 different countries twice in the same World Cup? And in which year did this happen? Extra credit: Name both countries involved.

Nope, cos they happened in different World Cups

There;s every chance that West Germany or Turkey played another team twice in 1954, or that Brazil or Turkey played another team twice in 2002, or that Italy or Poland played another team twice in 1982, or any of the other times it's happened. Actually, I hope that doesn't makes more confusing, I dunno

lol

West Germany played Turkey (1) in the group. Then they played Hungary (2) in the group and played a weakened team and, as was the plan, lost. Then they played Turkey again (2) in a playoff for second place and stuffed them, I think. Then they eventually got to the final and, in one of football's greatest upsets, if not tragedies, beat (2) an invincible Hungary team after coming from 2-0 down.

Your go Chris!

1998: UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship (England have never won it)

Irelnd are unbeaten against England in our last 5 games, which includes 2 wins

Ireland was the first ever foreign (non-Home Nations) team to beat England in England
