Exactly - I wasnt referring to anything "Funkypool", just that people were saying that nominating in 9ball was a rule, but it isnt.

Simple fact is that, though it may add to gameplay for many (myself included), it would slow things down, and complicate things for newbies, which is never good.

Simple answer - if you want to nominate pockets, play real pool!

why would it not be simple for newbs.....just add a (pot 9 ) button under the big que, click it then click witch pocket u plan on potting it in...omg how simple can it be....if thats not easy enuf i dont no what is....

OK im with magic, how much more simplier do you need it , i think its a great rule that most people will benifit from it. Some people relys on 16 rail shot and 9 drops in Which i think is crazy , calling pockets will stop lots of slop shots and people that can shoot will benifit from not being ripped from there rank from people hit an hope thanks , Aceinawhole

Well, as i have said before, i support the idea (for UK 8-ball, having it in any other game is just plain silly), but understand where others are coming from.

The usual format is that when a player is on the 8-ball, the pockets are highlihted and the shot cant be taken till the pocket is nominated.

Sorry, in 9-ball pocket nomination is simply unworkable for exactly the same reasons it cant work in real pool.

No-one playing real-life 9ball has ever needed it, so why can it possibly be needed online?

ye at one time but in real life people aim they dont just whack it round table n hope for the best which is happenin here

what you mean people don't, they sure as heck do, and i can say i'm one of them. i'm not saying hit and hope is the only way i can play, most people WANT to get better, but sometimes we have to hit and hope because we don't know the best option or feel its all we can do at the moment. you get unlucky loses, and its part of the game. others get lucky wins, but you cannot build a outstanding record on luck...i wouldn't worry about the fluke wins, and if you are a good enough player, you can usually win back the ranking points...just determines how dedicated you are

theres has to be a happy middle ground where the good players dont feel ripped off and the newbies dont feel like its a lost cause , allow fluke shots on everything except on the last ball what so complicated about that

yes ....only the last ball should be called all others are fair game to flukes.Unless you try a combo then simply call it with the pot 9 button and if you miss so what tha game goes on, if you pot it n wrong pot it gets respotted and the game still goes on.I dont understand whats so hard about that, its a good idea for the game....

A good player would never feel ripped off by a fluke, only a vain player...

Well, this is Ace again. Were i come from there is what you call calling a pocket on the 9 ball
because i played in pool all my life, by the way im the U.S. I played pro,s trainers before in real life and the 9 was always called , If ball is pocketed in wrong pocket it was always spotted simple as that and by the way spinner for some reason your against it , are you one of those hit an hopes haha , Thanks Aceinawhole

As much as i agree with spinner i have came up with a mutual middle for those players that do want it calling... they shud have a tick box under ranked an friendly and it shud say call 9/8 which means you get to choose in your game whether you want the game to be decided by calling the pocket...your game your rules!!!

OK IM A FIRM BELIEVER IN CALLING POCKETS I WAS 813 3 DAYS AGO AND IM 717 NOW THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF HOW PEOPLE FLUKES TO WIN ITS TERRIBLE I PLAY EVERYBODY ITS ONLY FAIR SO SHOULD BE FAIR TO CALL 9 THANKS ACEINAWHOLE . BY THE WAY I WAS PLAYING PEOPLE IN 600 HUNDREDS VERY VERY UNFAIR

Yes very good idea....and also a simple solution.I think its a good thing, but in tournaments it should be only call pocket only for the 9 ball and the 8 ball in US games...not decided by players

Sorry magic, but the only game it really should apply to is uk 8-ball. In this case the comparison with the real world is valid, since the reasons for having the rule are the same.

i agree with magic_stick that the 9 and 8 should be cxalled in us games because i play alot in real life and we always cool our shot so i think that it should be called and its an easy task so y would it be bad?
