Loosing a game to a newbie results in virtually no rank loss atall, certainly rarely more than 0.5, which can easily be gained back many times over by playing an Adept player.

So, since it has been mentioned in many threads with no reason given : Whats all the fuss about?

Seems your the only one making a fuss by creating a thread about it.

People play who they wanna play and do what they wanna do. Unfortunately as much as you would like to control it you cant.

I know your post was sarcastic Phil, but please read it a little before replying!

For those unaware, the thread was started to discuss the subject due to it beig off topic in the other...

Its got nothing to do with who people play, or how they play. Its just an attemt to clear up an innacuracy often stated in multi-user type threads, commonly where people say they wont play newbies in case they are pro's because they will loose lots of rank, when in fact this is rubbish since virtually no rank is lost.

Dresden - my point exactly m8!

No i know your point but its not relevant to anything, people will play who they wanna play, they dont need someone to give them the stats of how many points they will lose. I'm sure if its the situation you talk about, players with high rank avoiding newbies, they know exactly the situation and do what they wanna do. This certainly isnt news to me.

I dont like losing to noobs coz its like a kick to every bit of practice you've put into this and then they're as good as you and better.

As far as the points are concerned you're absolutely right it not more than a point and a half but then thats a win against a half decent player as well.

Btw just for information pruposes. I played a newbie today, called snakebite. He beat me. He was 699 rank, my score was reduced by 44% as he was a newbie. I lost 2.5 points. Bit of a difference there spinner so proves your point wrong

Thanks for that Phillippe, i agree that is a substantial difference. Still, he should have gained a fair bit more than normal too so its not all bad...

You said its not all bad, you insinuated something was bad? what is bad? Or was you just trying to draw me into another one of your petty debates about nothing?

Spinner i could insult you all day believe me i'd love it, but your the sort of guy you cant insult. Your a shabaz from big brother. I could throw anything at you and you'd say something totally irrelevant. In fact i'm wasting my time on you now. As i said in a previous post, one day you will find something to say which actually has some meaning then your life will have some point.

Until then my point has been proved, this post and the information it contains, which you provided was drastically wrong. You obviously have no idea about what your talking about when it comes to things like this.

p.s. you spell losing with one 'o' not two.

I don't get that phillippe - you said yourself in your 2nd thread that spinner's info was correct, and wasn't news to you.

I've always found it to be the norm to lose a lot less points when you lose to a newb, so don't know why you suddenly lost so many.

Obviously you and spinner don't see eye to eye, but it seems to me you deliberately goad him into these personal rows to take his threads off the point when you disagree.

Seems to me that you are both intelligent blokes, who both make a lot of good points - so i don't understand why you keep doing this???

LOL neither do i Martin!

I agreed with him, stated a common phrase "its not all bad", and he has been at pains to find a way to twist it into a rant..

Weird..

I am taken by the insult theory though. Its pointless trying to insult people, ist a silly as the myth that you can "annoy" someone. People have to make the decision to be insulted or annoyed. No-one else can do that for them.

But back to the point. Phillippe, you yourself stated that the points deducted from you were reduced by 44%, so clearly it is still better to lose to a newbie than to an adept, for example..

(apologies for the spelling, english isnt my first language..)

At no point have i said spinners information was correct martin, i said i know his point, generally yes you do lose less points to a newbie. But he is ranting on about it and even creating a thread about it.

I dont play newbies which must be one of the reasons he created the thread because of ppl like me. To prove him wrong i played a newbie and lost, i lost 2.5 points. I just wanted to prove he knows nothing about anything

For instance his take on me saying your the sort of bloke you cant insult to him, he simply doesnt understand. Thus my point is proven, you just cant insult someone as dumb and low as him..

Lads I think its fair enough to say that everyone or at the least most people are sick and tired of this ^^^
Seriously, you go into a thread and scroll down through massive posts of argument about nothing, I don't read them but they waste perfectly good threads and eliminate the oppurtunity to actually achieve somthing through the forums in general. I think you'll both individually agree with me??
So how about it? why dont we make an agreement. Spinner doesn't comment about phillipe's posts and vica versa. thus no drivelling argument and decent posts?
I know you should be able to give your opinions but cleary between the two of you that doesn't work.
> anyone else agree with me? and can you guys agree to that? without blaming each other

cheers

i think this would be impossible due to the fact i hate the guy because of his obnoxious posts. But i shall endeavour to do my best magicblack just for you. However as i said the reason is because of his posts, any ideas that come along he always picks to bits and tries to manipulate them so everyone thinks his way.

Anyway its fine with me. I'll stop and sorry for annoying anyone.
