bright and breezy,

This morning i had to get up at half seven,
Which is contrasting to the hols, where i got up at eleven.
I rolled out of bed, and fell onto the floor,
Knowing that sixth form would soon be a bore.
The sky was bright, the weather definately breezy,
With a wiff of fresh air, getting up would be easy.
So a quick splash of water, and a brush of my teeth,
I felt rejuvinated, not one feeling of grief.
Then i stood out of the door, and the wind hit me hard,
It felt like being hit in the face - by a block of lard.
So i get to my school, collapse in a chair,
All thanks to the walk, in the bright, breezy air.

In work and in play

Candles

So carefully she placed down the candlestick,
And lit up the match, to ignite the wick.
It had been so long since we shared this day,
The day I returned from my spell away.
The dinner smelt so sweet, the aroma lingered near,
And the night was special, so it was wine and not beer.
Her hair was put up, she wore a new dress,
I asked her how much it cost, but she asked me to guess.
So the flame flickered widly, and shone in her eyes,
And i know that we had come far from last year, wasn't no lies.
The food had taken long to prepare, she had worked so hard,
And i spoke so softly, and let down my guard.

'I must express my love', yes she will see,
So i took the chance and went down on one knee.
A tear fell down her cheek so fast, a shocked expression she gave,
And the moment she nodded, is the moment i wanted to save.

I placed the ring on her finger, and stood up for a hug,
And as i knocked the table, the candle fell down to the rug.
Without a seconds notice, the room was ablaze,
And i tried my best, nearly died, but my dream sank to the haze.
It was the smoke that ended her life, it took her away,
So i place a candle on her grave, when i visit today.
