vlaar didnt play against liverpool and our defence was awesome .. the problem was simply this... schezny saved a header from clark and within 5 mins arsenal were 1-0 up .. shock factor set in as we were the better team up until then .. then before we knew it 2-0 ... what that donkey was playing at with the own goal is beyond me.
I'd like to think a lot of it was down to the virus which robbed them of their best player (Vlaar), every team loses something when their captain and best player doesn't play.
My first bets on my acca for today:
Tottenham to win,
Over 1.5 goals (Lei-Mu)
Over 8.5 Corners (Lei-Mu)
Fingers crossed

And the first third Zak we are terrible at the back
Yeah but that goes without saying from last season. It has improved. From the end of last season but it's not how it's should be yet. I don't think we need to buy anyone though, just a lot of training to do.
The pressing issue is how to break down teams who man the barricades. West Ham were awful on the counter, we dominated the ball most of the second half and if we'd have had a breakthrough we could've gone on to win comfortably because they didn't look like scoring from a counter attack (but a defensive mistake like that isn't good enough when we're still in the game)

Let's not forget that the first 3 games of last season we won and kept clean sheets, and our defence went missing, maybe the opposite could happen this year (optimistic as ever )

your defence was shocking all last season aswell ....a quote from fergie
"goals win games, defences win titles"
that quote was never more evident than last season you were great going forward and the pretence of whatever you score we will score more but if you cant score more every game your screwed.

Liverpool also need a win tonight, a comprehensive win.
I am not sure we can get away with playing our fringe players, when our first team is lacking confidence like it is...

Here's an astonishing fact for you all....
The Ipswich squad that travelled to and beat Wigan last night only cost £10,000 (including players on the bench). And that was spent on Tyrone Mings as a youngster who we turned down a £3m bid from palace for in January and reportedly has Chelsea and Arsenal keeping tabs on him (along with little Teddy Bishop)....

I think the teams at the bottom need to play better and win more games. Also, I think the teams at the top need to keep playing well and winning games.

At the end of the day, the best team won, they played as a team, the ball ended in the back of the opponents net more times than it ended in their own net.

Don't forget the odd 'GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL' 'Unbelievable Jeff' or 'this is the worst defending i have ever seen'

Rode our luck for the final few minutes a bit though haha...but 10 points from the last 12 with two very winnable games left this month!

OMG, Henry Winter from the Telegraph has apparently heard that Hodgson is earmarking Tyler Blackett for the future of the England defence...
Has he been watching united? they are terrible at the back partly down to him!
If he gets in the England set up, then it is a disgrace to the decent talent out there and just shows playing for 'big club' puts you ahead of actual good players.

Nonsense, apart from his red card only he and Phil Jones have actually defended. Jonny Evans is a liability, Rafael...shame isn't the TMNT as this guys gone down in my estimations. Gives the ball away far too frequently and defends like a kangaroo on speed. All over the place. Chris Smalling will be back and is a good defender, just need a Solid CB who can command and keep some shape.
Tyler Blackett for England, personally a little too soon but one for the future, already better than some trash already called up.
