I have to disagree entirely with you Ash, Blackett has been woeful.

If he was as good as you say, why has he only played 9 minutes for the under 21's? He gave away a couple of goals on Sunday (which cost you the game) and his positioning is dreadful.

He is young, so maybe he can improve in the next 2 years and command a place in the England squad, but right now, I would have Cahill and Stones as our CB's

I can't see how anybody from the United defense can be deemed good enough to play for England....Shockingly bad!

Blackett just hasn't stepped up to the prem at all, if United didn't injure their players and had done a proper job in the transfer window ten Blackett wouldn't be anywhere near the first team. Smalling is juts as bad but he's got decent experience, nowhere near good enough for England though if we actually want to achieve something. Jones has got a bit of a liability about him but I actually like his work ethic as he will save a few mistakes for every bad one he makes.

Compared to Stones, he isn't even in the same class. Stones could hold a place in the England squad far better than some of the rubbish in it at the moment. Blackett is awful and if it is true about him being fast tracked then I lose any hope I had for Hodgson because he'd be picking players based on their club not merit. Bring though some players outside those big clubs and actually show some attacking intent not just the same old conservative approach that gets ripped apart by the big teams.

tbh i wouldnt play stones either .. i would play cahill and shawcross .. think shawcross is very underrated great work ethic and a proper english centreback.

Not saying a starting XI place, but the fact that Stones wouldn't get fast tracked and Blackett would is ridiculous because there's no comparison at the moment.

Give the starting places to the big names and let the young guns enjoy a bit of rotation

i know this much .. liverpool go into the merseyside derby on the back of three poor performaces .. their only solace is everton are not playing great at the minute either.
