If the plan was to rotate through the game types then they could be like Tennis and Golf style 'Grand Slam'/'Major' tournaments - one of each type per year - and recorded as such on the winner's profile.

i like that

Permanently recorded tourneys are in the works, but for now these threads will be the record of something special.

As for how often, well I would say a maximum of one a month, just to keep them special.

Since it will be logical to keep the different, working through the game types, I would also like to think they would remain popular.

However - that part is largely down to yourselves. We can set them up and customize them but its up to the members to turn out like they did on snooker last night and not only take part but follow the games. Tell your mates, get new people signed up etc etc.

We will also do our best to make sure regular tourneys don't interfere.

I see nothing wrong with the once in a lifetime name tag - after all, there will only be one first one

I think yearly is a long time to wait, i think quarterly is better. then you could have a tourney of each game type each year.

thought?

I was hoping for once a week!!!!! lol Suppose I'd be happy with once a month though, anything less than that isn't enough in my opinion.

I'm guessing the whole idea of it is to get old members back and to gain more new members? Who is going to remember to log in once a month? I'm here most days and unless I saw people talking/posting about it I would probably forget about it next week.

If its once a week, the tournament loses its value. Keep it once a month or once a season.

Unless they are already here at least once a week, would people get to know about and remember this though if it was once a month? And a weekly thing would still be special.

Once a fortnight would be better, that way could give advanced warnings/notifications. A month is too long to expect a new player or even an old one to wait especially if the general ideas to hopefully increase the amount of traffic accessing the site itself.

I like the idea of posting accomplishments to the players profiles, gives an added incentive which is what this site is lacking recently.

All in all, will be great to hopefully attract the new players and bring back the old. Change comes with time and unfortunately this site is slowly lagging behind even though it has great game play (the best) out of all other pool sites.

Once a fortnight would be great also but I don't see what the problem would be with once a week....... obviously we'd need to see what sort of interest it got first...... but people didn't lose interest when we had the UK marathon at the same time every night. There wasn't many on during the day then half an hour before it started the amount would double or even treble.

Yeah, maybe start with once a fortnight then judge the popularity and should it be high then make once a week? Preferably weekends to accommodate most players.

once a week sounds good but 1 of each a month?

8uk~8us~9us~random or straight, so it be once a month for each type.

think random be more popular than straight tho

If you're running it once a week, it wont be nearly as successful. I would doubt that you could get more than 40 players after the first few. People wont bother logging in for that when they can just play one the week after.

That was why the one on snooker worked so well- it has to be something people look forward to- at the most once a month! Probably better every 6 weeks. You can guarantee people will bother to log in for that.

Like Ang said though if you spread them out far apart ppl will forget all about them.Only reason snooker had so many join up was because woody and ross posted it everywere

I think once in a lifetime gives away how long i should be ;)
Risking the possibility of being mocked its like the once in a lifetime wrestling match between rock and cena.... which happened again a year later lmao.
Saying that I think monthly would be good. Think a few need to promote it like sniper and m_wood did.
As m_wood popped in 3 different rooms I was in to inform us of the tourney lol.
Was fun anyways would defiantly join one again even a snooker one :)

Memory of a goldfish!

It was also in the announcements in the game window, so anytime you would log in, you'd see it.
The bigger risk is people becoming bored with it like with every other tournament on here- why? Because they happen way too often. No tourney-of-a-lifetime inflation!

I wouldn't make any special effort to come online for a weekly tourney, because I can just play one the week after. Every 4 to 6 weeks? A whole different story.

I am the biggest fan of straight but that's just a waste of time even considering it into this tournaments as it takes far too long (not sure if it crops up on random though, someone enlighten me there...)

It has to be either 9ball or 8UK.

9ball is the quickest game to play generally so can do at least best of 3 for early rounds and best of 9(?) for the final.

8UK I believe is still the most popular (again, enlighten me on that one, don't keep track on these things anymore) so would probably get the most players.

My opinion is that it should be 9ball and do the format as

Early rounds - best of 3
Last 16 - best of 5
Last 8 - best of 5
Last 4 - best of 7
Final - best of 9

Or we get a killer room which can hold 100 players

Well snooker took 6 weeks of promotion and within the first 30 seconds the tourney was available to join over 83 members joined.. so every 6 weeks seems far better as i wouldnt be bothered about joining if it was weekly/fortnightly.. i planned to make some free time weeks before on snooker.

Ive never seen the site as busy as it was last night.. could even feel there was a different atmosphere. had 10+ people in each semi final

Judging by the amount of people commenting and the high volume of interest, it seems like a 6 week tourney could come to fruition.
